Late reply, but I do recall in one of the old Transformers comic series that Shockwave actually WAS a former Prime. Maybe this is some obscure reference to that fact? EDIT: I was wrong, he wasn't a Prime, but a Senator.

In the old Marvel Comics from the 80s, Shockwave stole the Matrix from Optimus after he defeated both Autobots and Megatron shortly after their arrival on Earth, becoming the new Decepticon leader, and then used it to give life to other Transformers (back then the Matrix of Leadership was only known as the Creation Matrix).

If you ever watched Gargoyles as a kid, I highly recommend you look into NECA's new Ultimate Gargoyles line. 4 figures out: Goliath, Thailog, Demona, Bronx, with 4 more revealed and 2 or 3 more we haven't seen yet. Very nice balance of show accuracy and realism. Very much looks like high quality detailed promotional art for the show come to life. I think it'd make a cool non-robot video, but I dunno if it'd be too niche or not.

That's probably the only other alt-mode that works for Shockwave, these days, I don't feel that device transformers work anymore (I partially dislike the "shrink into small object" transformer designs if I'm honest) so a tank is a good choice for any "reboot" version of Shockwave (as well as Megatron).

Just recently quit working at HelloFresh, it's a nightmare and hope they sink like a lead balloon someday. Stand in the same spot 10 hours a day putting ice in a box (at over 200 units per hr) with 2 half hour breaks... Also its 35F and you are standing shoulder to shoulder almost back to back with HUNDREDS of people in a gigantic white cooler. Made us take mandatory "Union Training" to discourage unionizing to fight for better working conditions. You also can't leave during your shift and there is no cafeteria just coolers with prepacked crap.
