Totally Packed Abandoned Century Farm House Left Forgotten up North in Maine

This beautiful old house was built in the early 1900’s between 1910-1920 up north in Maine for a modest dairy farm. The original family it was built for supposedly was offered a deal by a local construction company for a brand new cinder block type house. The house is made out of a very unique concrete block type material with interlocking concrete blocks almost like a Lego or something. Many older houses of the area are built of stone or wood frame so was very unique construction and I’ve never seen another built with quite the same concrete material. It is very strange and I’d love too hear any other ideas on it. Sadly this house will most likely end up demolished, as it sits at a busy commercial intersection and the land is more valuable then the actual old house. Would for it to be saved, restored and repurposed. Very cool old house. Thank you for watching hope you enjoy!

We were talking and it came up what he did as far as his videos, I was so impressed. These kids were so nice to talk too and spend time with, keep the great videos coming Kappy!

It would definitely be a house someone could rescue, as it appears to be structurally rock solid. The yucky renovations could be removed and make this into a lively home again!

This is a very solidly built house . It's too bad someone can't restore it as it has great potential . I saw some things lying around indicating that at some point someone may have tried to start a restoration but gave up . Also someone at some point had gone to great lengths with the stenciling around the tops of the walls . Beautiful woodwork and hardwood floors as well . I don't know who was more startled . You or the vulture .

My first comment on your channel. Definitely a beautiful, solidly built home. At 8:09 in video, there is an old bread box on the table. As soon as i saw it, i thought it looks just like an old bread box that was my Grandmother's & i still have it on top of my fridge. To be sure, i pausef the video, carried my cell out to kitchen & compared to mine. And, Yes- the Exact same bread box!!! Probably somewhere in the 1930s to 1950s time frame. Small world!!!

OMG! Kappy I cracked up when you opened the bedroom door and that turkey vulture started flapping its wings😂😂 you are genuine that's for sure! And that wasn't concrete that's limestone blocks. Not exactly cheap when it was built. But a beautiful home. Victorian homes were just amazing. And with that view I'd say the owner had a schooner and could look out to the bay and see it at anchor. Not uncommon in that region.

Wow! What a beauty! If it's structurally sound, and someone has enough money to put into it, as well as perhaps the skills to do some of the work on their own, this could make a great family home again. Looks kind of like my old family home we had to sell because I had neither the cash, nor skills, nor ability to keep up with it & renovate it. I miss it, but now it will have someone who can give it the care I never could.

Hello Kappy! You've found another interesting explore, complete with tour guide 😲! What an imposing old house this is! It makes a person think of a fortress! If they do tear it down, it's going to be quite a job! That'll be a shame, because of the history you shared in the description you wrote. (I wonder sometimes if I'm the only one who even bothers to read those). Some of the questions people leave could have been answered if they'd read your short paragraph about each house. As for me, I read that information before I even start the video. There's a lot of good background info there and I appreciate you taking the time to write it. There! Got that off my chest! Now, for the house. I agree with you, Kappy. This house seems to be remarkably clean and relatively tidy. That is odd, as it is so close to a large, busy highway. It's a lovely house, with all the millwork. Those stairs are so sturdy! There wasn't so much as a squeak when you went upstairs! These rooms are so bright and spacious! It wouldn't take that much money to complete the renovation on this house. I wonder what that situation is. I really like the green room with all its angles. It makes me think of that green treehouse room we found in that oddly constructed mansion in the forest a couple of months ago. This is a confusing house, for sure. It leaves many unanswered questions. Firstly, how in the world did somebody wrangle that fridge up that narrow staircase? It really doesn't look like it would fit! Oh! That poor bird! You scared her half to pieces! I guess she's thinking that she's found a great place to raise her babies. Maybe she'll come back, especially as she may have eggs already. You found us a great house this time, Kappy, my friend. It's very sound, as far as water damage goes. It's not trashed up or painted with vulgar obscenities. All in all, this one was well worth the explore and I'm glad you took us through it. Thanks so much! All is well here, except for the occasional head-scratcher, like how did he even manage to put my grandmother's cookware in the microwave to begin with? Fortunately, I smelled hot plastic and ended his attempt to boil water before something caught fire. No harm done, thank Heaven. I hope you are able to keep up your exploring through the coming winter. It's supposed to be a bad one. Until we meet again, take good care of yourself and the Ruby girl! Lots of love from Tennessee, Becca

I love these old houses, with the dark wood doors, staircase, etc. It must've been quite the mansion at one time. Our old farmhouse was built in 1919, and I vlove the old, dark woodwork. Pillars too, and it's still so beautiful. If I had tons of $, I'd restore this one!! So sad to see it go to the dust!

To save my home of 25 years a friend suggested I take in roommates. The nailed door directing roommates certain ways tells me letting my house go was the right thing to do. It was just prior to WWII built home that needed special care, which I was able to give it during my years there. But I knew renters who simply do not treat things the way a homeowner does and my lack of money to keep up with that would cause me great heartache watching my home being destroyed through neglect. Yep, as much as it hurt to lose my home, this house is positive proof I did the right thing by walking away. Not the easy thing, but the right thing. I’ll bet the owner of that house wishes they would have walked away a lot sooner than they did. The poor old once gorgeous old house. Now nobody will want it. 😢

Cool old house. Always a bit disappointed when they get divided up but I have to say it gives the house that many more memories than if just one owner occupied. Yet another jewel. The materials they used in the 'good ole days' were far superior to anything that is used today. What is being made today looks like junk when just finished. It certainly won't be around for years as these old houses have been. The stuff they use today is just wrong. Keep up the great work.

Another great...and different house tour. I like this house. It has basic, no frills detailing for a house of that era. Simple doors, moldings, railings, etc., yet detailed enough . Also, woodwork and windows seem to be in great shape. The house doesn't seem to be sagging anywhere (?). Hey, a slate roof too! This sort of cinder block, with the "hand hewn" surface look, was popular around this time. Curious thing, they used it here for the whole exterior walls, not just the foundation level, as was usually the case. Even the small pillars are old cement, how cool. When going apartment, the upper floors were probably somewhat rearranged to accommodate for separate digs. Gee wiz, was a black vulture? They have like a five foot wingspan!

Right!! The cinder block construction was really fascinating and not the typical basic cinder block house you’d see! Definitely was a pricey house when first built I’d think! Thank you very much for watching!! Great observations!! :)

Such a great explore Kappy‼️Those giant on the 1st floor windows are awesome & the cinder block it was built with-awesome❗️Maybe they climbed out the windows to get onto the 2nd floor porch? Not sure when you explored this but it’s a classic❣️

yay new house, i know its going to be a good one, kappy u always find the best farm houses, especially the ones from the 60, 70s and 80s...i like the 90s farm houses, but its something about those from years ago....very touching and moving...makes me think about when i was young and how my mother lived in a type of farm house back before i was born...

I recently saw this house in one of your videos. I would love to move into it and bring it back to life for many more years. I fell in love with it. I wish I knew how to reach the owners to talk to them.

This house has some really nice bones to it. If it wasn't for taking care of my elderly mother... I would be getting the location from you to this house.
