Any time anyone advertises anything at all to me with something akin to “it’s time to level up IRL, gamer”, I immediately cringe the fuck out of my skin and stop listening lol As a person that loves playing video games I already know where the ad’s going.

22:45 I am also an addict, and I did punish myself frequently by working out really hard. Its amazing that we can do these things to ourselves.
@teethgrinder839 ай бұрын
Yeah I've had addiction issues as well with heroin and although I can't say I punished myself by working out I certainly did feel like I deserved everything bad coming my way and being hurt (like self harm). Thankfully I was still well adjusted enough to not bring others down into my self destroying ways and got professional help instead and now have a far better understanding of why I felt and acted the ways I did towards myself, now I'm in a very happy relationship with someone and we love eachother very much but before that could happen I had to learn to love myself. Hope your keeping well btw, keep taking care 👍
@z.s.79929 ай бұрын
@@teethgrinder83 Keep up the good work. Let me ask you a question. Did you believe there was anything anyone could call you, or refer to you as, that could make you feel worse than you already did about yourself in active use? Also, what was the moment that you realized you were ready?
@teethgrinder839 ай бұрын
@@z.s.7992 thanks a lot, appreciate it. Yeah personally for me being called a "junkie" because it brings up so many negative connotations of someone not taking care of themselves (washing etc....), being a criminal-other than obviously buying illegal drugs lol-, like robbing people, mugging etc....and just generally being a scumbag whereas all through that time I managed to work (although I also got into a lot of credit card debt which I'm dealing with still), always tried to present myself as best as possible and didn't rob anyone and stuff. I mean I know there are plenty of people do that but I also know people like me who tried to keep their head above water and be a decent person despite it being extremely difficult. So yeah hearing people calling me that (I lived in a small area and so many people presumed they knew me but didn't actually know me, all they knew was I used) and so automatically lumped me with those negative things and that made me feel as though "what's the point" but I still barely kept myself together anyway. I still hate it when I hear people call others that word as it reinforces the awful feelings people already have and so I believe that's why many give up trying-or certainly contributes a lot to it. As for the moment I realised I was ready it wasn't a specific time as such it was just a gradual thing that I noticed I couldn't keep up barely getting sleep due to work and having to also make sure I'd bought enough to split into the amounts I'd need for the week without either giving up on life altogether or starting to go down a criminal route which is something I never wanted to do as well as my life never moving forwards, I felt like I was on a treadmill for 11-12yrs. Thankfully a clinic opened up in my area and I was able to get into the program not long after it opened and got professional help (I tried stopping myself but I needed someone professional to help me with my mindset as well ). Sorry for the long reply, I tried to keep it short but if I wanted to explain best as I could I needed to say all that haha hope it helped answer your questions though!
