Glad to see a Catwoman being more playfull and fun in this show. BTAS version always felt a bit serious. I only wish the episode had given more focus for her interactions with Bruce or Batman. I never bought these two had feelings for each other or that Bruce felt bother by Selina's presence and in conflict about his feelings for her.

Right, I felt the same way. I felt like she annoyed him more than anything else.

@@SerumLake Maybe that was the creators intention: The fact that Selina annoys Bruce is sign that she bring out the feelings he repressed but the episode didn't gave much focus to it. However I could see this being explore later in the show, with Selina future apperances causing Bruce to slowly reveal that his anger towards Selina is just his way to deny his real feelings (respect, attraction)

My wife isnt a batman fan but this is the episode I'd reccomend to her if I was gonna show her one. It was a fun take on the character, loved the car, like, why cant she have a fun car too, so just does, and love how she learns nothing from going to court. Especially how dent/babs interact. Greta is easily shows best side character. I liked that, much like Harvey Dent, Dr Quinzel was shown as a slow burn and was shown in their pre thematic villain professional role. I think that, while many/most(?) Of batmans villains are well educated, thats not touched on enough. I am so happy O'Brian was in this and batman utilized him as an accomplice. I was surprised he was so lax about what pictures O'Brian could use. I did notice, they pulled off her mask but they left on Onomanapias. Like they had no respect for her, also when they shot her in the leg, and consider killing her. I liked how this batman had no time for catwoman.

I enjoyed this version of Catwoman. And balancing the more tasteful presentation of Bruce's trauma with the 1000% camp of Catwoman was really engaging. But did anyone else think that the chemistry between Batman and Catwoman was oversold? I didn't think Batman cared at all, beyond not wanting her to be murdered by dirty cops. But that's every day Batman. The "pheromones" mentioned in that press release seemed to be all Selina. Bruce / Batman only ever seemed annoyed to me, Meanwhile we had this deep introspection on his child to trauma. Anyone else? Just me?

Kid Bruce Wayne scared me. Shocked that the Gazette photographer is actually Eel O'Brian (Plastic Man in other universes). Interesting how Alfred was near Crime Alley in this iteration. Catmobile sure can growl while making one laugh in hysterics. Greta's a gem and an inevitable ensemble darkhorse. Bullock needed plaster on his face... so much to talk about in this ep. This ep is a neat farce, but it sure has a fair amount of dark. Makes me feel reminded of some of The Brave and the Bold cartoon. Wonder what the newspapers are really talking about though? They seem to be in Latin. (As an aside, one newspaper talks about an arson investigation. Guess who is in the next episode.) I wonder who Isis the cat named after the Egyptian goddess is in this ep? The pilfered cat from the couple or the climactic museum heist black panther? Anyhow, shame either wasn't named, because it's also the name of a terrible terrorist organization, I bet. Interesting how blood first appears in the ep's near end, by way of Flass shooting at an escaping Catwoman on the right leg. Love how Bruce became quite protective of his poor mother Martha and those infamous pearls. Haven't seen a Batman work do such a thing in my experience. 12:31: Some guy named Guy Gardner may perk up on hearing that. Would love to see the Joe Chill of this 'verse get his comeuppance in the future, a la Batman Adventures 2003 and The Brave and the Bold. Bit disappointed the GCPD officer interrogating young Bruce isn't a young Jim Gordon. Really liked The Dark Knight and The Batman 2004 (which also has a guilty Alfred, I suspect) for doing that, with it also being implied offscreen in the DCAU. For some reason, I interpreted Doctor Q(uinzel) wanting Bruce to keep on doing sessions as her desperately wanting to keep their informal dates going or something similar. I actually noticed that Greta is an antithesis to Alfred in so many ways, loyalty among them. 20:24: And Plastic Man himself in The Brave and the Bold. Hope future storylines fulfill the "Catwoman will be back" hype. Wonder if she'll end up getting rid of the impractical cape (Bullock proved that) and high heels (the rooftop run proved that) after being in correctional?
@Scrinwaipwr2 ай бұрын
Greta did like 3 years of unpaid work. That's more loyal than I'd ever be to an employer. Alfred on the other hand probably gets paid as a worker should.

So, now it's time for the Catwoman episode and this is easily the character that I was most looking forward to in the show. Sorry it took me a while by the way. I make no secret of the fact that I don't hold BTAS Catwoman in terribly high regard and I find that depiction of Catwoman to be hardly memorable or compelling. However, while I've had my apprehensions for the show before its debut, I was actually fairly confident that I was going to enjoy Caped Crusader's Catwoman quite a bit more by the way they talked about her and honestly I feel like Bruce Timm got a better handle on Catwoman already in TNBA so I was actually quite optimistic. And as for Caped Crusader's Catwoman, I ABSOLUTELY loved her. She was written so perfectly. It was a perfect balance of showcasing her playfulness and kleptomania as well as the thrill she gets whenever Batman chases her. And another thing that I absolutely loved about Catwoman was how perfectly they showed in the beginning that she was clearly taking an actual interest in Bruce Wayne because Selina Kyle being interested in both Bruce and Batman has always been a staple of the character in the comics and I consider very essential. One of the things that constantly frustrated me the BTAS Catwoman was that she was only interested in Batman and didn't really regard Bruce Wayne and as BTAS went on she was barely tolerating his company. I also absolutely love the scene when Catwoman kisses Batman and immediately stabs him in the back (metaphorically) seconds later which is something totally in character. It basically did the opposite of the thing that I didn't like in BTAS which was that after meeting Batman just once she was immediately infatuated with him and when she kissed him in a similar way, she was completely genuine which to me just felt unbearably rushed. In the Cat and the Claw Part 2, Catwoman is straight up in love with him which again doesn't feel earned. I also thought they nailed the restrain Batman is supposed to show when it comes to Catwoman's advances unlike BTAS where they just have him the cliché cartoon red blushes. But enough about me criticising BTAS Catwoman (there will be more of that the future), I Also just had to bring up how much I adore the purple and green Golden/Silver Age Catwoman suit with the cape and it's one of my absolute favourite looks for the character and I am always ecstatic whenever they bring it back. But the thing that I love most about Catwoman's design was how noticeably piercing her emerald eyes were. It felt very intentional and like she can see right through you. To me it was such a treat seeing Catwoman's Kitty Car and when she brought an actual panther to fight Batman. The shot of the panther's eyes being the only visible thing in darkness and emerging from the shadow felt very similar to what they did in the "Chase Me" short film which I've said is my favourite use of Catwoman in the DCAU. And my God, Christina Ricci was so amazing. I can't wait to see more of her as Catwoman. I wouldn't say I like this Catwoman as much as the one voiced by Gina Gershon in The Batman because that is still in my opinion the best animated Catwoman. Catwoman in The Batman felt ripped straight from the Jim Balent run. Although I do find it funny that in Caped Crusader they have Grey DeLisle (pronounced Duh·Lile) as a newscaster in the episode and background characters because she has voiced Catwoman a significant amount of times, her first time being Arkham City, and is in my opinion the definitive voice of Catwoman. Now, while I loved how the show treated Catwoman, that doesn't mean that I don't have complaints about the episode however. Definitely the biggest drawback of the episode for me is its pacing and structure of the story. It felt too random and like all of the events were just completely unrelated and weren't leading up to anything and they didn't really compliment each other. The trauma of his Bruce's parents and visiting Harleen Quinzel really just didn't fit at all with the Catwoman plot and came across as extremely disjointed. It just felt like two different plots going on at the same time. The animation was at its best in this episode but it's still not exactly amazing either. I've noticed that I honestly think that Hamish Linklater's Batman is too monotone and honestly feels like a bit of a parody which is weird because the way they described it, he is supposed to feel more comfortable as Batman. His Bruce Wayne voice however I think it works amazingly and I really appreciate the subtle difference between his Batman and Bruce Wayne voice. The Eel O'Brian appearance was also a nice addition even though the changed his background from a criminal. From what I hear it's far from the only appearance of a character from the extended DC Universe.

@@The_Phantasm I actually liked B: TAS Catwoman for being less mean though. TNBA Catwoman felt like she fell too far into the dark, and I really hope Chase Me really is her last ever heist in the DCAU. Funnily, Grey also voiced Julie Madison for Ep. 8.

"And another thing that she was clearly taking an actual interest in Bruce Wayne because Selina Kyle being interested in both Bruce and Batman has always been a staple of the character in the comics and I consider a very essential." I love that detail too. The scene in which Bruce punched the reporter for insulting his mother was great. While everybody else is shock at Bruce's actions, seeing him as crazy and unstable, Selina just smile at seen Bruce being protective of his mother's memory. This moment (alongside her reaction when Batman saves her live twice) really show why Selina is one of Batman's greatest love interest, if not the definitive one: What lead Selina to fall in love with Batman wasn't his fake identity as playboy billionaire nor his dark brooding persona he often uses as Batman. She fell in love for the real Batman/Bruce Wayne: A compassionate hero who stand ups to protect others.

"The trauma of his Bruce's parents and visiting Harleen Quinzel really just didn't fit at all with the Catwoman plot and came across as extremely disjointed." Actually both plots are connect with the point of the episode: To explore Bruce's trauma through his sessions with Harley and his similarites with Selina. Harley spend most of her scenes basically pointing out the unhealthy way Bruce has been dealing with trauma, repressing his emotions and acting cold and uncaring towards others (as show in his interactions with Alfred) or showing little concern for the consequences of his actions (ex: He attacking the corrupt cops, which affected the public opinion on him). This is where Selina comes in, with her acting as dark reflection of Bruce (ex: they both sturbbon, they take risky decisons, they dismiss the concern of others for them), representing the type of person Batman could end up becoming if he continues with this behavior.

Yeah not a fan of this version of catwoman. She isn't the character as we know today, she is more like the old comics version which i guess was the point but the whole harvey going easy on the elite is not subtle and yeah she is just a goofy character that probably never come back or be developed. But i guess nobody is like themselves in this series. But the whole rich girl likes stealing cause father got arrested for tax evasion deal, i find it cringe. Is a completely different character to more antihero versions like the batman or long halloween, heck even animated catwoman was more interesting with the whole animal rights defender side. But i guess bruce timm sees her as just a comedic relief character that annoys batman rather than develop an actual relation. This episode wont please the batcat fans, but the golden age pre antiheroine catwoman yeah they will. The brave and the bold catwoman is bassically the same as this one except that one actually had a romantic connection to batman while this one tried to say she had but bruce said yeah nah im an actual orphan.
