Finally a video on a Case 580C. I've been look for this video for several months. My Case 580C has developed a shuttle shift problem. It wants to only go forward, even in neutral. I am unfamiliar with transmissions. Very helpful. Thank you.

Check the forward reverse linkage! Mine is loose and it wants to shift into reverse from the vibration of the engine

Just going to say this. The title of this video should be rambling on about a bunch of nonsense and also dropping the transmission. So glad I kept fast forwarding and didn't sit through it all. Hopefully the next one of him tearing it apart has some strategic value

I am rather impressed that you were able to get that power shuttle out of there without peeling off some cuss words. I dropped my shuttle on a 580K and put forward clutch disks in it and I cussed it enough for both us.

I've never seen someone use small crescent wrenches and a 3/8 drive to do a job like this. Maybe a breaker bar and some decent wrenches. Then there is the vise grips. Lucky you got it apart.

I bought a 1966 ck 530 Backhoe 188 Diesel Thema that I bought the Backhoe from they had replaced every hydraulic hose and repacked every hydraulic ram on the Backhoe everything works great if I ever have to do something like you're doing I just rather call case service truck to come out on the farm to do the repairs I'm geting ready to paint the Backhoe back to the original color case yellow with case red to before winter time sets in I bought a 60x 60 tarp to cover up the Backhoe while it's being stored outside

Well this sorta helps explain my issue with my 480ell 4x4. Im at the point where you sped up your video its 1/4 seperated my guess its fluid suctioned to the shaft.

I would imagine your tires suffer the same ill fate as ours' in Northern Nevada - Sun Burn! I hate having to continually change out tires. Once we have the shop up I would like to jack up everything that doesn't move and pull the tires of and put them in the shade.

So I have the same backhoe, mine has lost some pulling power. It will just crawl very very slowly in reverse but will not do anything when put in the forward (drive) position. Just wondering what you think it could be. Especially before I take the transmission out.

Anybody know how to fix the problem where the forward/reverse lever slowly creeps into reverse. To stay in forward I have to hold the lever, and it will pull into reverse from neutral as well.

@@eddiejimenez1234 It ended up being two things. First i had one of the transmission lines chafe a hole through and it leaked severely causing fluid to become low very quickly. Second, many of my clutch discs were worn. I dropped the trans using KZbin vids. Bought the best rebuild kit i could off ebay. Let a shop do the rebuild ($300). Then reinstalled. Been great ever since.

lucky it did drop on your head might bin safer if had two logs or blocks on other side of the jack so when lowered it the logs gave it some support if it fell off the jack

We have a dealership nearby - so I ordered the rebuild kit from them. The kit was pretty expensive at almost $500.00 - but I got the whole kit with the pump and actual Case Certified Transmission Fluid. I think the reason why it stopped working was that I had put a different brand fluid in it last year. I won't make that mistake again! Thanks for the comments. FYI - you can get these rebuild kits all day on Ebay for a good price!

holy damn 500 for a kit!? we have a beater abused but still running late 60s early 70s 580CK and all the rams leak on it and all the wiring is hacked and all the glass is busted out of it and recently the manual throttle control linkage broke and other things are broken but it still runs drives and digs etc,. but i dont think the whole thing is worth 500. hmm just wonder how long this old thing will keep goin for before it loses the shuttle or clutch pack or engine. haha. right now something is going on with igntion points distrib the points arm wasd grounded evne with points broken after it had been sitting a year parked ro aso, have no idea who wor why but i took the dristrib out of the bock and put in a new set of points and finalyl got them to stop being grounded when open. tonight. but its still oping backfiring not starting. no idea wth is going on all of a suddden with it.
