Nice to see you covering more Phil! Really enjoyed your commentary about how he communicates the wonder and awe of being alive and the natural world around us. I know I already said this on your Glow Pt. 2 reaction but I'd really love to hear your thoughts on The Microphones album Mount Eerie especially through this lens, it takes a completely different musical approach to this track but is probably the piece of his catalogue that most successfully communicates that feeling.

I was wondering if Phil's black metal-inspired era would make an appearance this week lol

Phil's first full-length foray into this kind of material inspired by black metal was an album called Wind's Poem which was released in 2009.

Super tasty and dense atmosphere. So many nuances to discover in the field of fuzzy chaos. Some of those chords were also choice. I would say the song does move but doesn't stagnate... it just ends up where it begins. A big, single, cycle.......of a wave

I don't really understand the 'unexpected' part of the theme... I'd say Anthrax - What doesn't die took me by surprise with it's power and heaviness, but can it really be considered unexpected if they are a metal band? Oddly, this reminded me of GYBE. Tried to find something that fit the bill and came up with - Kerbdog - On The Turn: Live at Sonisphere Muse - Dead Star @ Le Zénith, Paris 2001 [Hullabaloo] or Biffy Clyro - There's No Such Thing As a Jaggy Snake

So who's gonna be the one to force him to torture himself with A Crow Looked at Me?

I strongly recommend Forbidden-Twisted into Form album , the thrash with the most dreamy harmonics. You'd say , what!? Yes, harmonics...!

I'd rather listen to my parents make a baby than listen to that again
