FINALLY...an honest and accurate review of this game so far. Glad you mentioned all the sleek, clean stages and environments. It's merely throwing Street Fighter looking backgrounds into MK and I think it's awful. That seems to be their only "new" design idea for this game...oh wow now we get to do ridiculous murder fatalities on each other in a bright Malibu penthouse by the pool???? MK 9 was truly the last good MK game. I have no hope for future MK's and should just go back to all the previous ones and enjoy them again. Unless they go back and try a new one with digitized actors again (something they should do) then I don't see what else they can do with these. 10 years and 3 MK games that are boring and souless.

I do like the new music but man I really miss the dark badass music from deception, deadly alliance, and even shaolin monks… 4 had some legendary stuff too! Not having stage fatalities is one of my biggest issues… and I’m afraid it’ll be half assed when(if) they add them in an update. Lack of classic stages suck, I’ve been dying to see the portal remade… smh

100% agree with everything TotalMK, I've been saying this for a while, since MKX, I hate the fantasy superhero style music, it doesn't fit the theme of Mortal Kombat Would prefer the old formula of MK games, being the music, arenas, character styles, alternative outfits and not the lazy customisation and proper memorable music. Also konquest would be nice and the danger sound i miss too, MK has lost its style.....

Ive always considered u a friend and have always talked to you ;) The biggest prob i have with it is next to zero content. Ive spent 30 years playing mk. With every game they always improved and made it bigger and better. I feel like we peaked in the 3d era. You can pop in deception or armageddon and spend hours doing so many different things. U could play online vs so all the fgc evo wanna be dipshits can fight. But we also had puzzle, chess, the krypt, motor Kombat, create a fighter, test your sight and might, and the be all end all of mk modes: CONQUEST MODE. What does mk1 have? A few single player towers and the cluster fuck that is invasions. We had stuff to unlock and explore. Throwback costumes and stages. Hours of fun to be had. Midway cranked out mkda and mkd in the same amount of time it supposedly took to make mk1. mk9 was the last mk game that felt like a mk game and ive always believed it was a love letter to fans bc they knew wb was taking over from that point. We havent even had stage transitions in ANY nrs game at all. Something that was a main feature in many games since mk3.

The whole problem of wokeness is that it is mainly American. This Joel (not to be confused with the one from Vinesauce) individual who runs WBGames has drunk too much of that kool-aid, that he is screwing over fans who support the products (like you) in the first place. Since you’ve been telling me that this has been going on since the 2010’s, yeesh... As an American, we are sick and fed up with “diversity” from it being pushed not just in video games, but it is in our movies and commercials-shoving it in our faces (Disney is even suffering). Just lately, we’ve discovered that companies have been hiring based on the color of skin, and not skill or personality-the mirror-opposite of what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught all of us during the Civil Rights Movement! I have also said this on Twitter regarding some of the worst things English Game Developers (America and Europe alike) tend to do: backpedaling-even moreso with day 1 patches. Mortal Kombat 1 is a supposed reboot to Mortal Kombat after what happened with 11 (I was there when you streamed it a few years back, I felt your pain). American game development is not as fun as it was in the 1990’s; and while there are some that are going strong (like Crystal Dynamics, like Insomniac Games, like Rockstar Games, like MANY indie developers among others), there must be some kind of dogma against fun and entertainment. Wokeness has no future. No matter how much Larry Fink of Blackrock wants to try to convince all of us; we are all waking up, Luke. Don’t lose hope. This horrendous era of political correctness will be over, we’ll all be free, and we’ll all live in sweet harmony. Keep the faith!

Total MK, as much as I love MK since deception, I think this game needs to die for the best. This is honestly a wake-up call for everyone to not buy whatever comes out next. Whether it's an expansion or a new injustice game or a new MK game, you got Tekken 8 coming out this Friday from the time I spent in the demo I'm sold I wanted to know more about the lore in Tekken and take a brand new fighting game franchise and learn it and leave M1K to Rest in peace but Mortal Kombat will always have a special place in my heart

What bothers me the most is just how much of a step back everything feels in MK 1 - As grindy and boring as the towers of time felt in 11 at least they had exclusive rewards that I actually wanted; intros, outros brutalities, when I wasn't playing online these were what kept me in the game because they were unique and worth the grind sometimes. In MK 1 we have less in terms of intros than MK X had, all the brutalities and taunts you can get by grinding online so the only reason to play invasion is to get the skins of each season, the problem there being is that because the skins are all themed after one thing per month they are all generic versions of each other - Now Mk 11 had a similar problem with having like 50 skins each and a pallet swap of many but at least a couple looked exclusive to the characters, Mk1 feels so striped back and boring and therefore if you don't like the invasion mode skin theme of the month there is no reason to play it because that's all there is and the mode itself is bland, grindy and very clearly rushed, so the only thing to do in game is grind out your 6 brutalities and a few taunts and that's it, you have completed the game, only thing left is towers, story which lets be real everyone plays once or twice depending on the quality, online and that's it. without a fun way to get extra content, it's just waiting for DLC.

I thought of Deception's Konquest or SF6's world tour, where you walk around talking to people and getting into regular fights that way. The Invasions mechanics would still need a lot of tuning from there, but that'd at least be less boring than the board game style.

Yeah I strongly feel the game hasn’t fulfilled its true potential to be a great & near perfect MK game which is really unfortunate & lack of content I believe is hurting the game aswell even though I’m looking forward to Ermac & the aftermath chapter, hopefully some improvements will be added to the game in the near time but we shall see I guess & I totally agree with you about WB they’re just a greedy company that has gone to far, for me adding ridiculous micro transactions while we’ve bought the premium editions of the game is a complete insult in my honest opinion.

As Tekken fan I had owned every Mortal Kombat game goin back to the very original game back in 92’ and Mortal Kombat 1 is the first one that I seen and had no interest in playing or owning it. I felt from the original trailer that something just seemed off about it and didn’t like. I knew it seemed rushed because of the Street Fighter and Tekken announcements and it seemed like they were trying to just throw their name in the ring. Now that Tekken is out in one day I really don’t think that even if Mortal Kombat fixed the issues that I would buy it. I want Mortal Kombat to get back to its roots and be great because competition breeds innovation. Bandi Namco just has better communication with the community and the fans all around. With all that said, “GET READY FOR THE NEXT BATTLE.”

Bro I was one of the only ones that commented even before the game got released, that that mk1 is just too bright. No dark atmosphere at all. The trailers were all beautiful gardens and stuff, which looks very good, but just isn't mk. The perfect atmosphere in the game would be a mix of mk2, mk shaolin monks and mk deception. Combine the atmosphere of those games and you would get perfect results.

The skins are not worth playing at all. I’m a huge MK fan but I’m so disappointed with this one. Most of the times I think “don’t I already have that skin” because they all look similar. And the gear prizes are lame to…they don’t affect the skin 80% of the time. We can’t even swap skins on the fly on the character select screen!!!

its crazy that they are letting desyncs rock Tekken 8 is almost here and they are probably waiting till the next season to drop a patch with new content and a fix but thats 20 some days away and deysncs was fixed on PC already before christms by removing the intros, they then reinstated them with the kahameleon patch and deysncs are now back, *slaps forehead* and to further exsacerbate the issue they dropped the patch to fix it on consoles and it didnt work thats because they didnt remove intros,*slaps forehead* its beyond embarrassing.
