You can never fault NFL players for ring-chasing near the tail end of their careers. Jumping to a championship contender in their later years sure worked out for the likes of DeMarcus Ware, Darrelle Revis, Ndamokung Suh and Eric Weddle, among others.
But some of the top NFL players - past and present - simply didn’t time it right when it came to pursuing a Super Bowl ring. They were wise to leave their previous teams, but these 10 players simply chose the wrong team to ring-chase with.

Logan Mankins didn't "chase" a ring (desperately or otherwise). He was drafted by the Patriots and later traded to the Bucs. I don't think he became an unrestricted free agent in his entire career, so he shouldn't be on this list

Let's not forget that DeSean Jackson was apart of the Eagles, Bucs, and Rams in his career, and the SECOND he left those teams, they all went on to win the Super Bowl without him (2018, 2021, and 2022 respectively)

Pretty much all of the Bills from 91-94... 4 straight losses. Bruce Smith (from that team) would try his luck with Washington but that didn't work out either... Fran Tarkenton QB -Vikings.. 0-4 (also many other Vikings players from that same team spanning from the late 69's to the mid 70's) Terrell Owens. Had his chances to reach with the 49ers but they came up short. He went to Philadelphia where lost a SB... Went to Dallas where they got close... then I think Buffalo.. Cincinnati ... and who knows where else

Welker has a cruel superbowl history. Lost two superbowls with the two greatest offenses in NFL history in 07,13 Lost again with the Pats in 2011 dropping a pass that coulda won it. Lost as a coach with the 49ers.

Eric Weddle is on this list? Is everyone crazy? Weddle wanted to stay in Bmore. Afterwards he was asked to come out of retirement because the Rams lost John Johnson, Jordan Fuller and Taylor Rapp. He was signed as a last minute plug and play, he didn't ring chase.

TPS if a guy got drafted to a team or a team asks a guy to return due to player shortage that doesn’t count as ring chasing that’s standing still for a possible ring lbs. It’s only “chasing” if you leave where you came in for superstars or bring in all superstar free agents to your team
