I actually disagree, because there are Kenyan and Ethiopian runners who are young and join marathons for the sole reason that it makes more money than other distances. But in most cases, it ends up with them being injured quite badly and not being able to compete anymore. And another thing is that the main thing that you lose when you get into your 30s is speed much more than endurance so I don’t think eliud would have been much faster in the marathon at a younger age and it would probably end poorly

Kipchoge was a victim of Kenya's Athletics irrational policy of not allowing our track superstar athletes to do the double like they used to do in the 60s and 70s. The officials have denied the Kenyan elite athletes the versatility of doing a double or even a triple and therefore have denied them a chance to greatness. What other athletes from other countries like Kenenisa, Gebrselassie, and Mo Farrah enjoy is taken for granted. Being allowed only one event is a lot of pressure in my opinion. When Bernard Lagat moved from team Kenya to team USA that's when Lagat made his greatness due to the versatility he enjoyed with team USA.

I can't see Kipchoge losing this one, Bekele has run incredible times but he's too inconsistent to be a real threat.
@skytrexz37144 жыл бұрын
I think kipchoge is just to good at running fast for a very very long time
@danieltesfaye65564 жыл бұрын
"too inconsistent"? Who? Bekele? The word inconsistent and Bekele don't mix. Bekele is the GOAT of long distance running. From 2003 - 2010 Bekele was unbeatable in 5k and 10k. Now injury and age are caught up with him. That is not inconsistent.

don't forget that Bekele was in an out of competitions with injuries. If Bekele is 80% fit then he can beat anyone.

Great retrospective! If both runners are healthy, I predict that the spectators of this event will be the winners, regardless of who actually manages to break the finish line tape.

In Kenya, we salute and respect two Ethiopian runners who have terrorized us for years. Kenenisa Bekele and Haile Gebrselassie. These are the only two Ethiopians who have made us nervous before a race.

This shows that Bekele has the speed and Kipchoge the endurance. The marathon is quite the second thing.. So ill stick with Kipchoge. In a sprint finish i will chose Bekele, but rarely marathon comes to sprint, and plus i don't think Eliud will allow that considering bekele speed

Bekele was king of the shorter distances on the track and cross country and an incredible marathoner, just 2 sec slower than Kipchoge at the Berlin Marathon and still the fastest in his age category this week at London. Kipchoge however is king of the marathon, the GOAT in marathon. Bekele is the GOAT at everything else.

Ali vs Frazier, the Thila in London :) . I hope that it lives up to it. Running hasn't always lived up to the billing when two people are pitted against each other with all the hype outside of Olympic type events........... remember the Donavan Bailey vs. Michael Johnson fiasco. I hope this race does live up to it and it's a sprint at the end. But the marathon is a crazy event and it has a way of humbling every great runner. Well except Kipchoke so far, and he will eventually be humbled, let's just hope not in this great race. It should be amazing :) Oh by the way great vid, awesome research.................... In making these videos TRP, I must give you props, YOU ARE THE GREATEST, truly the GOAT!
