I mean he pulled up early to “celebrate” in the 9.69 in the Olympics. Used the previous olympics example because I’d imagine his time would be around like 9.62 or low 9.6’s if he ran that race through the whole 100. Bolt had the habit of looking at the clock just as he got to the finish line - meaning he is/was actually faster if he chose to go all out beyond the tape. He's in a league of his own.
@raoeoiku75493 жыл бұрын
The only way in which Bolt's size might handicap his recorded reaction times is that he'll naturally have his head slightly higher, and thus very slightly farther from the speaker that transmits the sound of the starting pistol. I think TRP is confusing the measured reaction time with his initial acceleration. A sprinter of Bolt's size will have more inertia to overcome (and drag from wind resistance in the case of a headwind), so getting up to speed from rest will require more effort. Thus a fast acceleration out of the blocks relative to his competitors would be all the more impressive.
@coachRoome3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Reaction time has nothing to do with size, other than the nanosecond of difference for the message to travel from his brain to his muscles. A better measure of the quality of his start would have been his speed at 5/10m.
@eamparbeng3 жыл бұрын
What you said makes so much sense. That explains why his coach Glenn Mills made him do some tough physical strength and conditioning workouts. Standing at 6'5" and weighing 210 pounds, Usain Bolt was a sprinter in a NBA shooting guard's body, making him not ideal for sprinting. His tough physical strength and conditioning workouts are also why Usain Bolt could dunk a basketball even without the proper technique and jump higher than most elite NBA players.

Yeah, it feels a little weird that the creator of the channel doesn't know that the size of the sprinter doesn't affect their reaction time.

What does the size of an athlete have to do with their reaction time
@RayadoxAV3 жыл бұрын
Reaction time is most of the times measured by how fast your body reacts to external stimuli, and those reactions are nothing more than electric signals running through the body to the limbs, a larger body means those signals take more time to reach the limbs, therefore a larger body generally means a slower reaction time
