man, once you have a good rail setup, it's such a live saver. it is just SO time consuming to build. I'd love to see a guide on how to build something workable with some quick but semi realistic blueprints and tips on how to build a modular setup. e.g. main double rail system through the map with branches off the main line for loading/unloading activities.

literally me right now, I just unlocked trains and am so overwhelmed and confused about how to do all of the tips people say to start with
@hashtagrexАй бұрын
@@PixelBoyMiner the best tips i can offer is to start really simple. Trains are basically moving storage containers, treat stations as such. Dont worry about items per minute or anything (though I can give you a secret that the length of the train journey has zero impact on items per minute if you set trains up right). The way I started is I simply needed several resources that were slightly spread out to make my turbofuel power plant. So I set up a simple monorail for 1 train that visited various points to pick up all the resources, then deposited them where they were needed. My line was a single track, meaning it was two way. It is perfectly viable to set up every single trainline like that, it's just not particularly efficient. After that, you should have a decent idea of how trains work. I set up a blueprint for dual track pillars with block signals on em that I dotted around to make a really long 1 way line, essentially a big loop. It went to nowhere in particular, but near to some places where I had factories. Once you've got something like that set up, anything you connect to it can be connected to each other. Any time I need resources for a factory, I just add a station with a connection point to the main line and voila. Trains are genuinely really simple. Don't be intimidated by them, but learn their intricacies (especially storage buffers at the station input/output). You can imagine them as ways of handloading factory resources, but automatically

Lumen also causes emmissive signs to actually cast colored light a short distance, so having guide lights along walk ways will help in darkness.

I've got 1300 Hours into this game in a solo world which I'm pretty proud of (having learn a major amount from your videos) but I always feel like my world is far inferior to yours! So clean! Love it!
@thegoodolddayz6183 Жыл бұрын
I would scrap the monorail and just have 2 way train tracks. After or before each station, make a track round-a-bout so that trains can circle back to their returning destination quicker. Ive been working on a train network for months now on my save and I really cannot wait to show you all what ive actually done, but its a long way off as im creating a massive master piece of a level. I would also recommend not having such sharp bends. I do my bends very gentle by rotating a foundation by 5 degree's, then add 4 extra foundations along from that rotated foundation then repeat. You get a longer curve and it feels a bit more normal for trains since they do about 150 km/h.
@SirLANsalot Жыл бұрын
its just easier to build with the concrete foundation from the start, instead of changing it later. Since the Concrete foundation only needs...well...Concrete instead of also needing plates. Also in U8, the Covered Concrete foundations are stunning with their reflections being even better then before, and even better still with Lumen.

i find it really interesting that once a more realistic light engine gets introduced all the players start building completly differently from what they had been doing. Now players are thinking how can i get more light in the building.

This was built prior to lumen but I've always found ways to add extra lighting. Just been cautious about using too many signs 😅

Your train lines look so simple to build, and the supports look really good while having simple and easy designs to learn. My biggest issue with them is that your turns are too short and the turn tracks looks really goofy without the steel frame highlights. I’m always a fan of train lines with long, gradual curves.
@TotalXclipse Жыл бұрын
Long gradual turns look great but are more time consuming to make it depends on how much time you have to spend on them
@Zhab80 Жыл бұрын
@@TotalXclipse I think the issue is that real life trains do not handle sharp curves well. It is all about how much realism you want (or can be bothered) to include in your architecture. Right now I'm focused on learning the game, so I'm perfectly happy with floating sky stuff.

Dordrecht Centraal is in The Netherlands! Idk what to name it though… I kinda like the pre-configured names, though finding a Skövde (Scandinavian country maybe?) right near Hamburg (Germany) is a little bit confusing for figuring out how to navigate the rail network…

Dude, thanks for the Video! I just created a railway blueprint myself yesterday and was wondering why the flip my train does not ride on it. It just cannot snap… Also love the monorail idea for the pioneer! Regarding Station Color: I like the tunnels being pitch black and maybe so small so that a train barely fits through, so it has this subway feeling. Also maybe have the concrete wall of the Station itself coated as well, as the floor is? Could give it a shining and modern look.

It is as if you have become less skilled at designing railway lines. I saw a guide you did a long time ago with curved rails, and I was very impressed. I altered you technique ever so slightly, and I managed to create beautiful sweeping curves. Seeing this video, I was excited to learn something new, I thought that you would be far past anything I could make, but your railway curves follow obtuse angles, your designs looks good, but the techniques in laying the lines is very basic.
