That was quite informative and enjoyable to watch, thank you! (Or: how to get from "what on earth is a weavealong?" to "ok, I need a loom!" in just about ten minutes. :D)

Genius Kelly! I was wondering how to use up the odd balls I have of my handspun. Most are between 100 and 200 yds so not enough to make anything really. I couldn't work out how to calculate them into the design of a scarf. Using them as accents every few inches or so like your eyelash yarn will solve my problem. It also gives me a great excuse to buy odd balls of crazy novelty yarn that I just can't resist in my local yarn shop.

Hi Kelly. If I wanted to weave-along, would a 24 in Ashford heddle kit be sufficient? It comes with one 7.5 dpi?
@KellyCasanova3 жыл бұрын
That is the same loom that I'm using here - Ashford 24" with a 7.5 dent heddle 😉

hello my name is veronique paradis and i would like to know if the book weaving rag rug by tom knisely the models are made on a rigid heddle loom.
@KellyCasanova2 жыл бұрын
No, I don't think Tom does rigid heddle weaving, especially for rag rugs, that would be for floor loom weaving.

hi Kelly can we thread the loom reverse so we do not start with knots
@KellyCasanova6 жыл бұрын
I've never thought of doing that, One thing, towards the end of a warp the shed becomes smaller and harder to clear because the threads are looped around the back apron rod rather than laying flat and side by side. So, if you knotted at the back instead, you may find you have shed trouble when you start your piece, if that makes sense.

Hi Kelly, I see you use warping sticks before starting a header. Is this just a faster way of getting to the header process, or just personal preference? I've seen where people use craft paper instead, is this also person preference, or do the warping sticks actually hold a better tension? Thank you!
@KellyCasanova7 жыл бұрын
It's pretty much personal preference - I did use waste yarn for a long time, but using the warp separators does such a good job and means I don't have to pull any waste yarn out afterwards :)
@debbilyon12337 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It seems a bit neater going without the paper to me, too.

What do you use for warp separators?
@KellyCasanova3 жыл бұрын
Cardboard warp separators, they are available at weaving supplies stores. To roll on at the back beam I often use a roll of craft paper.

I love your videos, very helpful for beginners like me. But, you speak so softly that I struggle to hear what you're saying. Yes my volume is turned all the way up and no I don't have any hearing deficits. If you could just speak a little louder I'm sure many people would appreciate it.
