Hey John, The missing slot you were wondering about should contain a 3/8 extension for the ratchet tool. Thanks for all you do for us SAD XK8 owners.

@@ToTheGarage Great story about Remploy - a pity the company is no longer trading. There is also a golf club manufacturer who only employs people over 50 - has very loyal employees... Thanks for another great video, John - really loved it (especially the really clear explanations & great accompanying photos!). I will have to check out 'Her Ladyship' (2003 XKR convertible) who is in tax hibernation at the moment until the 29th Feb! One of my sons is a Journeyman Motor Mechatroniker now studying for his exams as a Master Motor Mechatroniker (here in Germany only a master can train apprentices up to journeyman -3 years- with the apprentices attending college as well of course). My son graduated as 3rd of 39 & won a special prize - he is currently a VW specialist but is learning an enormous amount from your "Secrets" and is my 'super supporter' when it comes to 'Her Ladyship' !

Hello John, thanks again for this useful instruction film. Good to look after the toolkit, in case of.... and the secrets you did show us. And about REMPLOY; I work with disabled people myself. Very good to hear about, and good to be mentioned. But sad as it is, here in Holland, there are also workplaces for the disabled, who have been closed... did cost too much money, was the reason. It is shameful. Welcome to the new pragmatic world of 2019!

Hi thank you for your helpful vidio's. My tool kit comes with a 3/8 extention. I have also put a set of jump leads and a tow rope around the outside of the spare wheel and a small tourch and a dispossable rain poncho on top of the wheel. I will be putting some rubber gloves in shortly.

Just found your channel and binge watched the XK8 posts. Excellent series of informative vids, nicely filmed and narrated (with a hint of Brummie accent?). FWIW, I regularly check air pressure of the spare and inspect sidewalls. Those "T spec' tires degrade over time even with minimal or even zero use. They are also becoming difficult and expensive to replace and almost impossible to safely repair.

My '99 XKR came with a Jag issued 18" by 6" by 2" black plastic toolkit with spanners, screwdrivers, air gauge, etc. All Jag lettered. Set in green baize. Factory 20" mags needed a special adaptor to check tire pressures.
@ToTheGarage5 жыл бұрын
Wow. That sounds cool moyadapne. Do you think the kit was XKR or a tasty addition added by a previous owner. (I know that the XJ40's had a tool kit box and spanners for instance) Either way im Jealous🥺

Excellent video John and very informative as always. I think it worth a mention that the locking wheel nut “key” is stamped with a number. Should you ever loose the “key”, being armed with the number will help identify the correct replacement. Although not a unique number, it does identify the correct “key” for your particular vehicle. The keys are extremely difficult to obtain but do come up for sale occasionally on a well known auction site.

John, thanks for another great, informative video. I especially enjoyed the tidbit about Remploy. My 98 has the full sized spare. There is no divider between the battery compartment and spare storage area. I think the full size may have been an option.
@ToTheGarage5 жыл бұрын
You know what Bill, Although I know they fit. I have never seen a full size tyre in a car from the factory! So when you say there is no divider between the battery and the wheel do you have a different but one piece boot floor, compared to my two pieces? I love it when we discover something a bit different👍
@ltdjag75775 жыл бұрын
To The Garage John, it’s a full size 17” spare with revolver wheel and yes, the boot floor covers completely across as one piece. It covers the battery, fuse box and spare tire. By the way, the car is in America, if that makes a difference, I don’t know

Very sad☹️, although I have the socket drive you have missing, the rubber extension end of the wheel brace is missing, with the extension just lying within. Thanks John--what's the story on that black Jaguar bag in your boot? Can one obtain them?
@ToTheGarage7 күн бұрын
Jag did offer a very similar bag as an option "boot tidy' in their early accessory catalogues but they are no longer available. Mine is a copy i found on Ebay many years ago. also no longer available im afraid, but many generic similar ones are. I use it to store a few tools and some cleaning materials

@@ToTheGarage Thanks John! I found one last night on a site called Delicate Leather that's made of felt, dark gray, similar to boot-liner material, with velcro on the bottom and back to hold it, and a Jaguar logo on the flap. The simple answer is no John. I am working on something that will effectively be a smart index with links. Don't hold your breath though. In the meantime the best option is to click on playlists and select secrets of the XK8. They should at least be in chronological order and not mixed in with the other vids Thanks for watching John.

@ToTheGarage5 жыл бұрын
Hi Zsolt Berthold First thing is you may be trying to remove covers that are not there. Only the locking but has a cover and it is denoted by having a groove impressed in its top (like a fake key slot) If you can’t remove this one then either the plastic removal tool is worn out (unlikely) in which case put a single wrap of insulating tape around the end to keep the claws inside tighter, or replace it. More likely you have not yet pushed it onto the cover far enough. It’s a firm shove and you should hear a feint click Hope this helps. Thanks for watching👍 John
@zsobeeeee5 жыл бұрын
The reason why i think its a cover is that its not tight so i can twist is a bit to the left and the right an pull a bit also. Non has a mark to sign the locking one.. i try , thanks :)
