Always so interesting John. Impressive light fit for new (expensive!!!) unit. Did you have to have garage finalise light settings? Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim. The left right is more or less fixed but I marked the cutoff shadow on the wall before I did the job and adjusted the height to match it afterwards.👍

My Chrysler Crossfire has the same thing. I'll eventually put in upgraded bulbs when the originals burn out, but the fact I'm not updating to HIDs like I've done on so many prior cars speaks volumes.

Hi John, I very rarely drive my car at night but when I have I notice they sometimes flicker off and on. Maybe it's only one side, not sure really. I have a dreaded feeling it may be those ballast thingy's or hopefully only a loose connection somewhere. What are your thoughts?
@mistermikeanson5 жыл бұрын
Apologies for butting in John! I have the same problem and I'm pretty certain you are correct Trevor. The ballast units are supposed to be sealed but I think moisture eventually gets in and causes them to fail. It's quite disconcerting when driving on an unlit road!!
@ToTheGarage5 жыл бұрын
No Apologies required Mike. I take it both of you have the HID lamps? There is a gap below the headlight to cool the lamp housing, but as the balast unit is (I believe ) also below the lamp, then that cooling slot drives rain water onto it at great force.

The flickering could just be the connector on the back of the lamp working loose (mine was)

My xkr has 2 massive shadows I dread driving at night it's most distracting I've changed main bulbs for brighter one but still shadows any ideas thank you in advance

Are you sure you dont have wrong handed headlamps? X100 lamps are not as bright as modern LED units but they are certainly better than average for their time. The use of a Projector lens and Mask does result in an incredibly sharp cut off at the edges of the beam which can look a little alien if your previous vehicle has round headlamps where the beam edges are only controlled by ridges in the front glass. Other possibilities are that they just need realigning, or the reflectors ore badly tarnished. Or incorrect lamps installed? Some bulbs have black tips to stop light going forward before its all been bounced off the reflector. The projector units (driving lights) dont need this and it reduces light output.

Both of my projector lenses are cracked, so the dip light is deteriorated. Is there any chance to replace only these and not the whole unit? XKR Coupé 3/02
@ToTheGarage2 жыл бұрын
I have never seen the lenses sold separately Mr Phillips You can swap them if you can find good replacements though. There is just a large spring clip holding them into their mounting

@@ToTheGarage I know, unfortunately the whole unit is about 1.000€ for a new one and 500€ for used stuff. That‘s pretty (and too) much for two lenses. I hope I can get two optical lenses of the same shape and size anywhere. Does anyone know the dimensions of the lens?
