Thank you so much for making this video! I have been all over KZbin to find a good video of how to install these HEKO windeflectors and finally i found your video! It's good to know that this is your 6'th set that you install on your car or van because then these windeflectors has to be great and made with good quality? I purchased a set of these windeflectors today for my Golf MK5 and i really looking forward to getting them and install them! Your T5 campervan looks great both with and without windeflectors but the tinted windeflectors give it a nice look and i really like how slim they are designed.

Hi John. I have had deflectors fitted on two cars - Ford branded on an Orion, some thirty five years ago, and Peugeot branded on a 407 around fifteen years ago. Both sets were extremely well made, fitted beautifully (though not without some effort) and really looked good after fitting. Being for 4 door cars, they were both sets of 4. I did consider an aftermarket pair for the front doors of my early 508 (later 508s were pillar-less) but they seemed lower quality to my previous purchases whilst being no less expensive. I was impressed with those you fitted, especially the tinting and ease of fitting. I will consider that make on whichever vehicle I buy next. Thank you for the always entertaining and informative videos.

Thanks Dave. The difference in quality materials and fit between manufacturer original equipment, and cheap as chips products on ebay is dramatic. Thats why im sticking to Heko

Fair point about cleaning the channel before fitting. I saw another vid where the "expert" just slapped them on. He didn't even fit the clips 🙄

Greetings, John; I've learned a lot from your videos. This is a bit off subject, but maybe you have an answer. My 1999 XK8 4.0 with 72K miles recently had a catastrophic engine failure. On the freeway, I heard a knock from the engine and started to pull over when the engine seized. There was no indication of problems from my fake gauges. Upon disassembly, I found that all of the engine oil had been pumped into the cooling system, causing #1 connecting rod bearing to spin, laying waste to the crankshaft journal and locking up the engine. My question is have you heard of this before, and if so, a possible cause? Thank you, and wishing you all the best in the New Year.

Hi So sorry to hear this Never heard of that failure mode before. first instinct would be a headgasket failure. But typically that results in the water going into the oil rather than the other way around and would cause it to pump out white exhaust smoke and then overheat before any other disasters struck. I cant imagine how but the Water pump is the closest connection between the water and oil systems . Maybe take a look at the enging block behind the water pump for signs of cracks.

Hi, I bought these and have just fitted them to my T5. The window's aren't very keen on them - they keep detecting an obstruction and reopening instead of closing all the way. The window motor seems to labour a bit when they do close. Any suggestions to make them looser?

Hi there John. Have you ever experienced rattles/noises coming from deflectors? I have them on front and back doors but get noise from the passenger front. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Never had any problems myself. Have you lost/not got the metal clips in place?
