Now that was cool to watch, very exciting. I think this excites man at a primal level, playing with fire is strangely satisfying. Even more so when you intend to create extreme temperatures and melt metal! Nice one!

Couldnt agree more Trevor. My house has double glazing and a really effective central heating system. That didnt stop me installing a wood burner though!👍🔥Explosions and molten metal in the next episode Trevor so hang onto your hat my friend.

You don't have to apply rigidizer to the insulation that goes around 5he intake then?

So everyone knows you want to apply a refractory cement to the insulation of any furnace, to help prolong the life of the furnace and keep toxic fumes from comming off the insulation, granite it is not much it is enough. It is very easy to apply. The product provided with the furnace works but a 3000°f refractory cement will last longer

Concerning the regulator, the knob in the center adjusts propane flow? Where about should the meter read?

It depends on what you're melting..08mpa Aluminum .1 mpa silver .12 copper/gold. I have a 4kg devils forge and melted all these metals I listed beside gold but copper and gold have the same melting point. Hope this helps

Did you have to apply any tape during the setup? And I'm making guesses at some of my setup since I've never done any of this before and you skipped steps. Also. Do you need a temperature gun?

No tape used and the temperature gun is nice to have but not necessary. Just warm it up relatively gently the first couple of times.

I'm gonna do my first run tomorrow and dry it out.- I'm just curious, is it steaming as the moisture leaves and when it's not steaming anymore it's ready?

Ducesweden. You may see a little steam, but it changes colour / shade slightly anyway so you will pretty much know when the moisture has been pushed out.. good luck, enjoy and stay safe.

i've bought a similar forge from the same place, however the air valves on mine are not opening up at all, I have moved the butterfly up the thread and used all my strength to do the same with the valve, it wont budge. does anyone know why?

I wouldn't feel comfortable that close to the tank so I'd probably want to use a longer line or hose.

Hi Just Thought I would share this with you? Hopefully it is helpful. The New interchangeable crucible Tongs heads are on pictures 10 and 11 and cater for sizes 4/6/8 kilo crucibles. And they fit. Type in on eBay ( furnace crucible Tongs for the devil forge 10kg And see what you think . The set of two tongs At £126 for two and £56.50 each for the pair They are for the devil forge 10 kg fully closed the tongs diameter is 8cm across and are for crucibles measurements of 12 cm diameter above and below Fixed sizes. For safety reasons keeps the person away from the crucible and furnace at all times during the pickup and pouring of hot metal crucible pouring. They are heavy duty : Nearly 3kg between the two. Well balanced when in motion with crucible full and not full and when not in use. both can pour from a crucible with ease the one’s in the picture are for advertising purposes only . Contact for enquiries: on sizes of crucible Tongs as they are made professionally to order. Contact for further details from eBay on orders. Hopefully this is helpful as it was for me and my 10kg devil forge. Great tongs.
