I’ve heard that Illumination and Nintendo are talking about making a Zelda movie, and while Illumination is talented in their own way, I feel the 3D style they usually do wouldn’t suit Zelda the same way Ghibli’s style would. The music, atmosphere, enemies, themes all align perfectly with each other.

The Mario movie was kinda perfect for Illumination, because they’re really good at getting those vibrant and fun colors. Zelda would definitely need a more serious darker style.

Actually, it rumors are with Universal Animation Studios. Which is made up of: Illumination (theatrical releases) and DreamWorks Animation Television (television production). This means there could be a deal with working with DreamWorks. And looking at how to train your dragon and Puss in Boots: Last wish, they know how to do fantasy which might suit Zelda.
