I watched a interview with Simon Phillips. He said, that he actually not looks to the bassplayers, cause he must concentrate verry hard on his own playing. Switching from pedal to pedal. Double base, to high hatt again. Improvise while taking note of every aspect of drumming at that insane level. And thát's one of the reasons why he is imo the best.
