UPDATE : this concert has now been released on DVD and BluRay, definitely check it out. At the time of posting it was still an unreleased show you could hardly get your hands on it.
Very RARE Live video of Jake to the Bone from Montreux 91 concert.
Dedicated to Mike Porcaro, may he rest in peace and groove hard with his brother Jeff. Legends gone too soon...
Sorry YT has put ads on it, but I guess this lets the video stay online.

Mike's low end bass kills...this is how fusion music is played...killer groove and soul...never lose the soul @3:47...TOTO never goes so far off the edge like most prog bands...they lock into tasty grooves...Paich's keyboards are outstanding...he can play a ballad and then let if fly with those chubby fingers...Jeff played better open fills on the studio version...Luke really remembers his studio parts

NEVER got to see these guys til after Jeff earned his Wings. I wish I had seen them during this era. Simon did yeoman's work stepping up, and Sput and Shannon Forrest are also monsters. These guys are at a level that's missing from today's industry. (MHO), and it makes me sad!

Am told by those in the know; Jeff should've been in 7 for part of this, but my ear hears 6! Grab a note and hang on, it was! I think Scott Page told me he got razzed a goodly bit afterward. The trick is; they went down that rabbit hole with him, and nobody knew the freakin' difference!!! 🤣 Lightning in a bottle, here. Look up the clinics Jeff did on here at MI.... he was legendary for his generosity.

David Paich! WHOAA! If you only know the name and have never heard David Paich play live & show his serious skills then here you are @ 1:40. I love Lukather's tone @ 6:58!! These guys never got the respect they truly deserved. I love all these guys dearly & I have since my teen years. BIG groove, and Toto plays like a real band together. All parts form a formidable machine. The criticism leveled at them for being LA studio musicians and playing on some of the biggest albums ever has always been unfair to me. And yet if you pull credits from any song/album from the 70's-2000's chances are you will see one of the band member's names receiving credit for arranging, composing, or playing. I give David Hungate props for his studio/live bass work with the band. That being said, Mike Porcaro sounds like a Titanium Wall. His bass lines were always big and he could not be moved. Definitely an influence on my bass playing. Together that rythm section was hardcore solid. May God rest his soul as well as his brother, the legendary Jeff Porcaro.

The criticism about them being 'session musicians' has always been ridiculous. Yes, they are/were session musicians. Because they are/were the best money could buy so every artist, producer or composer wanted them and only them to play on their records.

Thanks Kev1du33, JP was unbelievable in the studio and truly immaculent on stage, I saw them twice in OKC first time on the debut tour, then 2 yrs. later athe the 3rd lp having just been released, 97 degrees and humidity was unbearable ( typical Oklahoma summertime ), and muggy to the max. Jeff Porcaro had 4 window-box fans blowing on him, I felt his pain, having been a drummer also, I'm retired and 62. Never to old to rock n roll. NEVER!!!!!

The thing I've always wondered about this performance is it seemed to me like Jeff changes it up near the end of the song, as if he's wanting the song to end. Luke, Mike and Paich all turn towards the drummer and being the great musicians they are, adjust and finish the song. Has anyone ever commented in interviews if that is what happened? Did he just mess up since it was the first time being played live? Was Jeff getting exhausted and needed to stop? I do remember reading that Jeff had talked about quitting touring because it was starting to be too much for him physically and he wanted to just keep doing studio dates and being home with the his family.
