They're true musicians and vocalists...most of them can be a lead in any band and most of them play many instruments...as well as write their own music. Love Toto

Its 2024, ive seen them twice. The most recently, a few weeks ago in NC. After all these years, these Rock OGs are as tight as ever. Close your eyes, and you swear you're listening to the recording. Every riff and run in place. Its ridiculous!!! :)

Always love watching when you get lost in the music, Bobby Kimball was lead vocalist for the band from the previous Toto songs you enjoyed. Toto have had a few lead vocalists, Joseph Williams is a favourite of mine. Steve Lukather has an excellent voice to, his solo albums are excellent.

Toto had several lead vocalists through the years. The guitar player was always a lead and backing vocalist depending on the sond and the time period.
@lewiswellspiano3 жыл бұрын
They've generally had a primary lead vocalist (Bobby Kimball who sang Hold The Line, for instance) who handle about 60% of the songs, with Steve Lukather and David Paich (Piano - sang the verses on Africa) doing a couple of songs on each record, and Steve Porcaro (Synths) doing a tune occasionally. Bobby Kimball, Fergie Fredrickson, Jean Michael Byron, and Joseph Williams have been the primary lead vocalists, but for most of the 90s Lukather filled that role as the band had grown weary of lead vocalists flaming out. Kimball returned in 1999, but he was past his vocal prime. Joseph Williams returned in 2010 and remains in the band today. His vocals are exceptional still today. My all-time favorite band and it isn't close. This link is the current incarnation from a livestream last November... kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6eoZoF4jZ57fdE

My appreciation for brilliant instrumentalists who can also sing is immense. From Toto's 1990 live in Paris show (here on YT) watch the pair of ballads Steve sings, one being I'll Be Over You, and watch him cover both lead vocals and guitar seamlessly. He was in his early 30's at the time, and it blows me away how well he does what he doea so well.
@richardwatkins24023 жыл бұрын
Yep, and he's still doing it these days, his voice has obviously changed a bit, but he still puts in the effort vocally and instrumentally.

The big reason why I like Toto is because everyone in the band is a session musician, so they are VERY good at singing and/or playing an instrument. Toto is what happens when you have a group of singers and instrument players who can play many styles get together to jam. They play late-70s disco, 80s AOR and R+B, hard rock, and even cover music (like "Could You Be Loved" by Bob Marley).

The drummer, base player, and the keyboardist with glasses are the Porcaro brothers. Only the keyboardist, Steve, is still alive. The guy singing and air guitaring is Joe Williams, he lead sings some songs. His dad is the composer of the Star Wars theme song.
@sretePtraB3 жыл бұрын
There were always multiple singers in Toto. My favourite lead vocalist is Joseph Williams (I can't stop loving you). Steve played the lead and bass guitars on Michael Jackson's Beat It (Eddie van Halen only played that solo) and together with Toto's Drummer, Jeff Porcaro did a bunch of the arrangements on the rest of the thriller album aswell.

My favorite band! They can do anything. They were all session musicians and have played on so many other songs. Steve Lukather (Luke=nickname) has played on over 5000 songs with his guitar alone, plus Toto songs and his own solo music as well. He played electric and bass guitar on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. Eddie Van Halen (Luke’s friend) played the solo on that song. Luke is amazing, along with the rest of the band. Toto is still playing today with Luke and one of the many singers in the band Joseph Williams (whose dad is The famous composer John Williams) They still sound great…check them out in 2022.
@ranjer21123 жыл бұрын
At that point in time they had 3 main singers. Steve Lukather (also guitarist), Bobby Kimball (I think he was out of the band at that time) & David Paich (Keyboards). Other primary vocalist was Joseph Williams (son of composer John Williams - Star Wars) who replaced Bobby.
@sammartinezduarte26393 жыл бұрын
Hey Rogue, nice choice !... Toto's got quite a few tunes with that kind of vibe. If you're not Toto'd out enough, try and take a listen to one of their love siongs called, "I'll Be Over You." The lyrics will just kill you. Beautiful song. Steve Lukather delivers very nicely on that one too. Btw, you look like you have some moves, even just sitting in a chair. You know how to groove ! ha ha. And I have to like anyone who's a coffee lover too like me. : )

Here's your daily bit of trivia...the blonde singer, Joseph Williams (their current lead singer, but you don't hear him much on this song), is the son of the famous composer and conductor, John Williams (Star Wars, ET, Jaws, Indiana Jones films, Jurassic Park films, Close Encounters, Schindler's List...basically every Steven Spielberg film...Home Alone and the first 3 Harry Potter films)

Great reaction, these guys have been my fave band for years, seen them play live several times, well worth catching them, they will be touring with Journey on a few dates n the US next year, and on their own in Europe. Their lineup has changed quite a bit, but Steve Lukather ( guitar/vocals ) and Joseph Williams ( vocalist, doing the air guitar in the video ) are still in the band.

Dung dung a lung dung...what the heck is that?...😂😂😂 I've seen some interviews with Toto they're pretty funny. They said they used to get Steely Dan albums before they went out and played the songs live. If The Dan had known they would have been pissed...😁 The one song I like from them is "Miss Sun," but I like the cover by Boz Scaggs better. They did work for him too.
