This is a different lead singer than what you heard before. This guy is Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the guy who wrote the scores (and main themes) for Star Wars, Harry Potter, and a million other great movies. The original lead singer was Bobby Kimball.

Kimbell was the voice of Toto but was replaced by Josh Williams. Later Kimbell returned after sorting his personal life out. He stayed with Toto until his voice deteriorated. Williams was invited back and is still with Toto to this day. Kimbells health has deteriorated of late.

Steve Lukather, Toto's guitarist has been on so many albums as a studio guitarist, it is just unbelievable. Often he is too underrated. Amber will love that he was the goto guitarist for Quincy Jones when recording Michael Jackson. He also played for Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind and Fire, Lionel Ritchie, Richard Marks, Donna Summers, and so many more. He still keeps Toto going today, when not touring with Ringo Star's Allstar Band. He also wrote and sang one of my favorite Toto songs, I Won't Hold You Back - you should definitely react to it.
@SweetThing
@SweetThing Жыл бұрын
And Steve Porcaro wrote "Human Nature" about his daughter being bullied by a boy and she asked Steve why the boy did that and he told her: "It's human nature". And Quincy Jones wanted Michael J. to sing the song, so Steve Porcaro graciously gave it to him. Toto does a good job of singing it themselves.

You guys have to realize that there this more than one singer in Toto. David Paich does most of the singing on Africa. Pamela is sung by the current singer Joseph Williams. On Rosanna, Steve Lukather and Bobby Kimball share vocals on that song. There is also some other songs where they have Steve Porcaro, Fergie Frederiksen & Jean-Michael Byron singing as well.

Thank you so much, for helping me relive & see the miracles of my life; through your open-minded, wide-eyed wonder. ❤❤❤😎🎸🎹🎙️🎶 PS: Do not go 1 more day, without reacting to 2 songs: “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” (1967 live TV performance) by Tom Jones & “Oh, Darling” by The Beatles. This is my most favorite song of Toto's. The singer, Joseph Williams is the son of the Great John Williams, the composer (also conductor, pianist, trumpeter) of so many movie scores such as the Star Wars series, Fiddler On The Roof, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman (Richard Donner) series, Indiana Jones series, E.T. The Extraterrestrial, the Jurassic Park series and on and on and on, not to mention all of the TV Shows such as Gilligan's Island, Lost In Space and The Time Tunnel among many others.

Musically, Toto is one of the most talented bands of their era. Each member was top-notch musically. Their drummer is really, really good. I just checked Wikipedia, and many of them were session players for artists like Boz Skaggs and Steely Dan. That explains a lot. Great band. Great song. Great reaction, you two.

Respect and love for iconic drummer, Jeff Porcaro. In addition to being a founding member and original drummer of Toto, Jeff Porcaro was a legendary studio drummer who arguably was the most recorded drummer in the seventies and eighties playing on hundreds and hundreds of songs. He played on numerous tracks for Steely Dan, Michael Jackson (4 out of the 9 tracks, including "Beat it" on the bestselling album of all time, "Thriller"), Michael McDonald ("I keep forgetting"), Boz Scaggs (all of "Silk Degrees"), Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Lionel Richie, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Bee Gees, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, the list goes on and on. Jeff Porcaro always played to the song with impeccable timing and feel defining Toto's sound (also co-wrote "Africa"). The entire band were outstanding in their own right, but Jeff Porcaro's drumming was the heart and soul of Toto's sound. When you listen to a Toto song recorded in the seventies and eighties listen closely to the drums to really appreciate how great Toto is. Jeff/Mike Porcaro RIP.

Steve Lukather is one of the best guitarists of all time. I don't think people realize just how many songs/artists/ and bands he recorded with and songs he's written. As a Gen-X guitar player, been playing for 30+ years Steve Lukather is one of my guitar heroes. Steve Lukather wrote the main riff as well as the bass for beat it by Michale Jackson and was the one who said to bring in Eddie VanHalen to do the solo

This is from the Toto album "The Seventh One" and the entire album is excellent. This was Joseph Williams second album as the lead singer and he was a long-time friend of the band members, growing up with them, so it was a good fit after Bobby Kimball, and rhen Fergie Frederiksen, left. Great band! You need to check out more songs from this album for sure. "Only the Children" is another banger that you'll love.

Joe Williams was the 3RD lead singer of TOTO (from 1986-88) following original singer Bobby Kimball and Fergie Fredericksen (RIP)in that order. Williams actually joined the band when Totos popularity was declining in America. Williams returned in 2010 following Kimballs return tenure from 1998-2008. Now they are a touring band with Steve Lukather being the ONLY original member.

Yay! It's been a while since your last Toto reaction. Check out "Stop Loving You" "99" (which is from 1979) and "Georgy Porgy" pronounced Georjee Porjee. This was nice. Haven't heard this one. For me, the horns were really nice, but the keyboard stole the song. Other songs: "I Will Remember" "I'll Supply The Love" (1978) "Angel Don't Cry" (1984) "Hydra" (1979) "I Won't Hold You Back" (1982) "Holyanna" (1984) "Straight For The Heart" (1988) "Out Of Love" "Melanie" (1999) "Stranger In Town" "Goodbye Elenore" (1979) "Till The End" (1986) "Waiting For Your Love" (1982) "St. George And The Dragon" (1979). There you go guys :D

Toto is: Jeff Pocoro - Drums (Died in 1992) David Paich - Piano/Keyboards, Vocals Steve Lukather - Guitar, Vocals Steve Pocaro, Synthesizers (left the band in 1987, came back for later touring) David Hungate, Bass (left the band after Toto IV in 1982) Bobby Kimball, Lead Singer (Left the band during recording of their 5th album Isolation, in 1984) Mike Porcaro, Bass (Joined the band after Toto IV in 1982, Died in 2015 of complications due to ALS) Fergie Frederikesn, Lead Singer (October 1984 - through 1985) Jean-Michel Byron, Lead Singer (Four tracks on their Past to Present 1977-1990 album) Joseph Williams, Lead Singer (1986 - forward) They never had consistent lead singer because Bobby Kimball, Steve Lukather and David Paich all took turns singing lead. Then when bobby left, they worked to find a replacement and finally found one in Joseph Williams (son of composer John Willams). Great band with a rich history. Note that there are three Porcaro brothers who played in Toto. Jeff was considered the CEO of the band.

Joseph Williams even co-wrote the song with Toto's main songwriter and keyboardist David Paich. A very jazzy but typical 80s disco-friendly produced track. I often mix up Toto with Chicago... this song proves it could be a hit by both bands :D

Joe Williams has only gotten better with time. He and guitarist Steve Lukather did a killer version of Africa a couple years ago in the Covid lockdown. Joe sings both parts. His vocal range is really amazing.

They have so many songs with girl’s names there’s a term for it: ”Toto girls”. Although Rosanna obviously is hard to beat, my favourite might be ”Lea” from the album prior to this one. It was written by the third Porcaro brother, Steve, (who also wrote Human Nature for MJ) - the second keyboardist, who had departed the band when this album was recorded. BTW, the singer here, Joseph Williams, is the son of legendary movie scorer John Williams (Every Star Wars movie, and every movie by Steven Spielberg, and much more).

This is a different lead singer than your prior reactions. Bobby Kimball left after the fourth album. This was Joe Williams on their seventh album. Joe is the son of composer John Williams and a childhood friend of guitarist Steve Lukather. He is also the current lead singer for the band, with Lukather.

Funny thing I must mention to you guys. This is one of my favorite songs and videos of Toto. However, I just realized a few months ago, the guys in the shadow playing horns is the band.

Never heard this one before. Saw them in the last year with Journey. Both are still amazing. Just heard Thriller twice on XM radio on my vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC last week. Found myself paying attention to the music now that I know it was Toto who did the studio backing for the recording. Great musicians!💖

Love this song from Toto ! Glad you reacted to it. The reason the vocals are so different from Africa is because it's a totallly different lead singer. This is Joseph Williams (whilst the lead singer on Africa is David Paich).

Hmm. That's Joseph Williams, son of the well known composer John Williams. So excited that you did some Toto. Toto is FIRE! Check out Straight for the Heart, Till the end, has Paula Adul in the video. Also, Can't stop loving you, without your love is funky. Home of the Brave Live from Poland is one of the best live performances you'll experience. Thanks again.

Other top Toto songs: "I'll Be Over You" and "Stop Loving You." Also "Africa" and "Hold The Line." A great band. A little-known music fact: a lot of the Toto musicians were used in the studio by David Foster when he produced the Chicago 16 album, too. (This had big hits on it like "Hard For Me to Say I'm Sprry" with Peter Cetera on lead vocals.)

I forgot how much I liked this song. I think you've hit all my favourites now. Could you please do some more Richard Marx? You did Right Here Waiting which you loved - but he has SO many MORE awesome hits. Should Have Known Better and Don't Mean Nothin are more uptempo - and fantastic. Too Late To Say Goodbye is just a kick ass BANGER. Enjoy the ride!!
