These guys belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. How many hits have they written and played on. these guys are the last 1/2 century of music. Let's get them in the RHOF.

Astonishing! I and many of my friends and family discussed your post the other day. After a quick check Reggie, your right. How did this amazing band get overlooked? Our consensus was, oh yeah, it’s The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How many times have we seen this before? Deep Purple, Rush Et al. Hopefully, like the others, this injustice will be corrected with time. Of course, none of us are getting younger, right? Let’s hope this happens soon! Thanks for the heads up.

I do not believe so! In fact, I believe that total is way above the quality of music that the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame represents. Toto is Waze superior to any of those work groups that have been considered to be “good“.

Who cares a mooseshit about that corrupt, confusing and completely frivolous bunch running the RRHOF ? There are bands that are too good to be in it. Toto is.

I have been a huge Toto fan since I first heard "Hold the Line" on the radio in 1978. What an amazing group of brilliant musicians, who are also very cool guys (which I can tell from all the Toto interview videos I have watched over the years). Since I am a guitar player, Steve Lukather is one of my top guitar heroes. His chording and very melodic and powerful solos totally suit each and every song perfectly. These guys were all born with the gift of musical creativity, and of course, they put a lot of work and soul into their music which makes it such a total joy to listen to! :)

John I feel the same. I was a 16 yr old kid in my local record/head shop asking”who tf is this?” And it was Hold The Line. Bought the record on the spot and have loved them and Luke ever since. My band covers the tune now and I “fake” a decent version. Just took possession of an olive green HSS Luke III this Fall. Luke is my musical hero all the way around.

I was so Lucky I worked with Boz on Silk Degrees in SF. His Band was David Paich ( who co- wrote many of those songs) the never equaled Jeff Porcaro- Steve Porcaro- and David Hungate . Lukather was there as well although Louie Shelton was the 1st Guitarist I think Luke got to play on his tour. A Guy in my Office left SF to move to LA. to form a new company to Manage Toto. CBS was sure they had a winner and guess what they did. Toto’s 1st. Hold the Line alone was enough to send them on their way for years to come. They just got better and better and finally years and years later they have received the recognition they deserved. Long shall they live in good health. It’s now their what 45 -50th Anniversary. My Favorite Live Band as they have held true played hard scratched and fought thru so much and undergone tragedy. They have always been huge in Europe and now here as well. Joesph great Singer Bobby a great Singer and of course Mike Porcaro RIP and last but not least the only drummer that could walk in and take Jeff’s place Simon Phillips.

If you listen to Toto over and over again since 40 years and still hear new things in their songs, you realize how complex and deep this music is. Many of those famous hits played on radio today get boring so quickly...but not with this band. Play on, Toto!

Heard Toto live from 1986 to 2022 seven times. Great concerts, great memories! ❤ 2015 I enjoyed hearing them again with David Paich, Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams, David Hungate, Steve Porcaro and Lenny Castro, who never was a regular member. But still Lenny brought memories back from 1986, when he played together with Jeff Porcaro live. Shannon Forrest did a phantastic job on drums! 👏 2022 the line-up was very different, but the concert was phantastic, too. Bob Searight had a wonderful approach to Jeff's drumparts, Joseph Williams is getting better and better and Steve Lukather was on the top of his game. Would be great to have a new album and a new tour in the future. I have all records on vinyl or CD.

I have to say: ToTo should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. I always had high regards for Journey; the musicianship, the writing, the live sound. But the band that deserves as much our more recognition, ToTo! You are the unsung heroes of rock and roll. Timeless and the more I listen the more astounding the music: the more beautiful gems I discover. Who can do that after 50 years!?? Keep bringing the “shit”..😎😂❤️

Good grief, Joe Williams. Amazing vocals during practice time. I can barely notice the difference btw Joe and Bobby Kimball. David, Steve and S Porcaro are geniuses. Growing up with toto made me happy. I would dance to the music; run on the treadmill, too. (Not since the 90s). Too old for it now but Totos music always has given me chill bumps. Pls keep the music coming. Harmonies are sick!!! Instrumentals are sicker. Ha! Hope I dont loose my hearing. I turn my Sennheiser headphones as loud as i can. How can these guys always sing pitch perfect. That makes me happier. You are my musical heroes. Thank you, Toto!

Toto made a series of outstanding records, then came a number of.... well, not so outstanding... And than came XIV.... And it all was phase one again. With a singer sounding even better than in his younger years. A string of nothing but exciting songs. These guys were back. Really back. With really rocking songs, with ballads, with instrumental intermezzo's that are absolutely delicious....

We’re just now discovering this short documentary so thank you in advance for sharing this with the KZbin community.🎧That being said, this video confirmed what we thought Toto were and are in the industry. We were also pleasantly surprised at how well Joseph Williams was at not just song-writing, but actually composing. I guess we shouldn’t be considering that his father is John Williams, who is a multi-winner of Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globes for his own compositions. Last year Steve Lukather announced there would be no more touring for Toto. We sincerely hope that we’ll at least get one more studio album in the future.

Amazing band. The musicianship was off the charts. Incredible talent and chops. Some may say that Toto did not break that barrier that other bands have done. I say, " Go and try to do 1% of what they did". You would think different. When I was really jamming and doing it locally, I would come across Toto music and think, "Great band", just not paying much attention to it today or looking back at it. In my 40's, I am like WOW... perhaps still not my tops ever but I incredibly appreciate them more than I did in my youth. Great band and so talented. Toto could walk into any session and play. I could not do that back when I was playing. I would have to have tapes for a few days for the most part to feel comfortable. Roseanna, Africa, Hold the line are Epics... Go binge on TOTO live especially what is left on youtube and other platforms... Crazy awesome musicianship

XIV is a truly excellent album-like a record that was produced in the ‘70s or ‘80s but that remained unreleased until 2015. I sure hope it won’t be Toto’s last studio album. But let’s be clear, as Steve Lukather himself once said, “Without Paich AND at least one Porcaro brother, it’s just not Toto.” I couldn’t agree more. The same lineup who made Toto XIV, including Hungate, needs to get back in the studio and make a proper follow-up album. If possible, it would be great to include Bobby Kimball too. And Steve Porcaro needs to be permitted to write most of the songs. I love that guy’s songwriting! Very underrated.

Hungate does what he wants to do. He left after recording Toto IV, because he didn't want to be in a touring band. He wanted to be a studio musician in Nashville. And he's gained a lot of respect in the industry for his chops. If he'd wanted to be with the band, the invitation was always open. He toured for this record, but then said that was enough and went back to Nashville.
