Despite the lack of a sustained challenge for the league that season, I really enjoyed this Tottenham team at that time who played some good stuff but, as always, were often hindered by events and distractions off the pitch.

gazza - what a fucking legend. that challenge on gary charles makes me so sad in hindsight, such a massive what if. never the same player again, but he still had enough in the tank for the iconic scotland goal and key role in the legendary dutch annihilation.

The pride as a spurs fan watching OUR players gazza and lineker starring for England in the '90 world cup will never fade. Interesting season forgot how great we started lack of depth and being skint didnt help. Played some great football. Can see why veneers didnt rate mabbutt as centre back tho (sacrilege I know) he did get caught out positionally. Tbf he was a centre midfielder. I'd have love to have seen a prime Graham Robert's in that team. Nayim might be our most underrated player ever. And that performance by David howells against forest is legendary.

The year my love affair began with Tottenham to me this was my favourite team Gazza and Lineker made me love Tottenham having watched them play for England at Italia 90 the rest was history still married to Tottenham .
