I used Knox gelatin for my male puppy that is large boned and his ears were taking forever to come up. I mixed it with chicken broth and poured it in ice cube trays to make gummy cubes and fed it to him. It must have helped because without a couple weeks both ears were up and have stayed up since.

Bonnie, My German Shepherd Puppy is 9 months old and I will start doing that tomorrow - can you give me an idea, please, how much gelatin you put and how often did you give him the gummies. Our dog is large boned and one of his ears is up, the other one goes up and down. When he is alert, both his ears are up, when he is relaxed, one is back down. He is so beautiful with both ears up!!!
@ewigkriegerkennelsbonnieza25163 жыл бұрын
@@ivelinanikolova4737 It really depends on how stiff you want them. I tend to make mine a little stiffer but it's only preference. The general rule of thumb is 1 package of Knox Gelatin to 1 C of liquid but I usually use a little less liquid, maybe 3/4 C. Make sure that you make your own chicken broth and don't use pre-made. The pre-made chicken broth has onion powder in it which can be toxic to dogs in large quantities. Most likely a couple ice trays of gummies wouldn't be enough to hurt them but why risk it. Just boil some chicken (without the bouillon cubes - again has onion powder). Boil the water down to the amount you need, then mix the gelatin in with the liquid while it is warm. Pour the liquid into the ice trays and put in the refrigerator and leave over night. Should be read to eat the next day. I gave my boy 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening, but you can't overdose them on too many. Just depends on how often you want to remake the gummies. LOL

@@ewigkriegerkennelsbonnieza2516 Thank you so much for your precious advices! My puppy is 9 months old and people say he is huge for his age. Hope this is the reason that one of his ears is floppy and not up yet. Anyways, I am determined to help him with the gelatin. So, of course, I first bought the bouillon and made some gummies. As I have your answer now, everything makes sense and tomorrow I will buy a chicken to make the bouillon. Thank you again!!!
@ewigkriegerkennelsbonnieza25163 жыл бұрын
@@ivelinanikolova4737 You're welcome. My boy is also large boned and was 8 months old before both of his ears stood up. I think the larger boned dogs tend to have thicker ears which means more cartilage and heavier so the cartilage has to be that much stronger to hold up the extra weight. Give it time. As long as he hasn't had any injuries to the ear, chances are it will eventually pop up. The gummies will help and you can also try glucosamine & chondroitin supplements as well. Good luck.

My question is, i have a 9 yrs old boxer (male and is fixed) my puppy is a female and when i get close to her when she is eating i been trying to make her to back up and she is doing it even if it is my daughter the one getting close to her when she eats but if the one getting close is the other dog then she will growls. Is that agression? And if it is,what should I do?
