Touching Snowdon's Summit Stone in Storm Agnes

I took full advantage of a lull in the storm to ease out of my warm sleeping bag in my tent and make a summit attempt. I had to drop to my knees on a ridge to stay below the howling wind, and I probably hold the record for the shortest amount of time on the summit of Snowdon, but it was a memorable experience.

Was that on Sunday? I was up there on Monday and it was howling on the summit but not as bad as your trip.

This Wednesday just gone (27th Sept), late afternoon just as the storm Agnes was whipping up some winds. It got pretty wild in my tent on the Watkin Path during the night ;-).

We were out that day in Ogwen and it was breezy and some rain but the frenzy about 'Agnes' was absurd. Just a normal autumn day in the days before the snowflakes took over

I set off from home in the early hours of Wed and the last forecast I saw from the met Office was for gusts up to 91mph on Snowdon's summit in the evening - significantly more than a breeze. In the end, the wind wasn't that strong but still enough for me to duck down on a couple of ridges and dodge the gusts. It was fun in my tent that night, a shame the winds weren't a bit stronger but there will be other occasions.
