This battler here is actually playing the biggest 100IQ game of all-“the opponent doesnt know what u are doing if you dont know what you are doing”

You are so right about GBL being much harder. I only started playing about 4 seasons ago and can even tell a difference. People in 2400 range now are optimizing fast moves, counting on a lot of the matchups and playing to own cons. On top of that, a heavy RPS meta makes it very tough

Dan you’re 1000% right about what you suspect is the baseline in today’s gbl. After legend this season I played a couple weeks with crazy spicy things just to have some fun and dropped down to the 2400s. I decided that was low enough and I put back in my meta lines thinking I’d just easily climb back to 3000 but this season that has been much harder to do than in seasons past. I’ve been able to climb back but I’ve had to focus and play at the top of my game even in the 25-2600s. The people who are at 2600 right now are the same people who were hitting legend 4-5 seasons ago.

I'm really glad and relieved to hear this. I was thinking why am I struggling this much at 2200-2400 elo this season! Good to know it's not just me that's finding it so much harder than any other season before.
@GrannySingaporePVP4 ай бұрын
@@Zallen25 the competition is certainly stiffer nowadays. The good thing is though that with better competition comes improvement in your own game. It pushes you to get even better if you want to climb. 22-2400 right now at this point in the season is still good! There’s enough time left in this season (especially with go battle week coming up) for you to climb quite a bit and to reach your goals! Just keep battling and improving your game and you’ll be where you want to be before you know it

My two favourite bits of Dan advice from this video: 1) @5:27, knowing when resisted moves are enough is crucial 2) @16:48, the idea of making your opponent make a decision - do they want the shield or the Pokemon?

I consider myself an "average" player knows counts blah blah but still haven't hit veteran this season purely based on lag...and fossil cup lol. Very frustrating past few seasons with how bad this game is
@bobbyrdayton98663 ай бұрын
Lag could b a good excuse but u don't get lag every match all the time , you can't use fossil cup tho as an excuse because u don't have too play it.

21:25 this reminds me of when you go against a less skilled player, expecting them to do skill player plays and they don’t. So you screw yourself over by over playing and losing because you tried to outplay them. When they are completely clues to what just happened. 😂

I'm actually liking the fact that Fossil Cup is running this whole week. Just watched your video on Fast Move Optimization yesterday and I'm testing it out in battles starting today. Since most of the leads I'm facing are the same I'm getting the hang of 2 into 3 turn moves and vice versa. So from that perspective yay Fossil Cup

After 5 seasons of playing seriously I have hit legend this and last season, not trying to brag but with the amount of content on KZbin it is very easy to get good quickly only requiring pokemon to play with to climb high, I’ll try to send in some battles soon

First match shows why you need to know match ups, like shielding knowing you get farmed down otherwise
@AgusLearnsPvP4 ай бұрын
To OP: I know that Icy Wind debuffs. But that debuff is a novice trap: A lot of people throw it matches that make no sense whatsoever just because of the debuff. Most of the time, getting the pokemon off the screen is more valuable than applying the debuff.

Exactly! The amount of times people do that just for me to switch out once I ko them is crazy

Some smart moves, some extremely rookie mistakes for sure but lots to learn from Also funny @ 23:00 , he had the move surf on lanturn available as he lived the hydro on 1hp but he didnt throw it lol, didnt make a difference in the end at least Also agree it does seem harder than ever to climb and become consistent at the moment, takes a lot more effort now

I think sometimes we employ incorrect strategy. Staying in too long because you don't want to get switch locked but unfortunately it's worse because they get to over farm.

I think the player skill level has gone up in this specific meta if you catch my drift. These pokes have been basically the meta forever now and its just everyone knows the counts and movesets basically. When we get a meta change the average skill level will take a hit too just from having to learn and familiarize different attacks
@Forged4War2064 ай бұрын
Nah, I don’t think a meta shift will really make much of a difference. Everyone will be in the same boat not being very familiar or used to the new matchups and counts. People are so good because everyone now has good fundamentals. No amount of meta shifting will change that.
@ZachBurns-gu9zk4 ай бұрын
It definitely will imo. At least a little bit for a while. The curve will drop for like 3 or 4 weeks and then once everyone pucks up the new arrivals its gonna level back up. Idk how MUCH it will drop but i know for a fact it will. Just guaging off of my own personal skill and advancement in this meta. Im probly a less than average player and still able to reach 2600-2800 just on familiarity with the current meta

It should not be any more difficult to climb now than ten seasons ago. Otherwise, the elo system needs to be retooled to accommodate for the increase in the skill level of players. If you were able to reach veteran without knowing counts in 2022, you should still be able to reach it today.

This was fun to watch. This player had some really good plays and some comical acts... but it was fun. And this game is supposed to be fun. But MOST of the time, this game feels like work
