My wife is from Cebu and I'm retired. We live in NE Texas. Asked her many times if she wants us to move to a nice area of PI. ALWAYS tells me no. Why? She has become accustomed to life in a first world country. No cooking over an open fire. Electricity is 99.999% reliable. Healthcare is extremely good. Shopping choices. Safe food. No piggeries next door. No wild dogs everywhere. List goes on and on.

Same thing here. Also, our adult children and are grandsons are here in the States. She’s been here 43 years now. No way she’s going back except to visit.

I get what you're saying but life in the U.S isn't the end all be all any longer. Especially if you're a single retiree (good luck finding anything remotely close to an attractive younger girlfriend like you can in the Philippines or Thailand.......unless you are loaded to the gills). Also, after the crap they pushed on everyone during covid, I wouldn't classify the healthcare as extremely good. More like fair and extremely expensive. But carry on......

Flippina's change when you take them to your native country. A number become workaholics,obligatory cosmetic surgery enhancements,insanely competitive with other expat flippina's and hesitate to return annually because, of the ever increasing money handout insistence from the family.

Pretty cool to watch this video. You know, I mean 8 days is a pretty long time to be off the grid these days. + You seem more at ease! You know it's kind of amazing because as much as you probably are struggling with not having the luxuries you're accustomed to, it's really clear you're making the best out of the situation and I can clearly see a spiritual aspect to it. The way you're talking about people and the community and observing the rain clouds coming in... Nifty stuff... It shows your viewers another angle of your surroundings and your experience. Thank you for this video. Great content! Great cultural aspect.

I wouldn't be surprised they find that cable was cut. I saw a video the other day about how China secured a patent for a hydraulic cutter with 1200 foot pounds of cutting force. They had been caught twice in the north sea trying to cut the transatlantic cable and one other. They caught Chinese freighters in the area right above the locations for those cables. They had actually managed to damage one of them.

There was a Chinese ship that passed by Siargao so it could be them.
@rbaker3557Күн бұрын
Siargao isn’t really in a good location since there is no natural barrier in close proximity to its east that will protect it from strong typhoons and tsunami waves.

You're doing well Brian. I think a lot of your subs don't realise that it's not always like this on Siargao it's actually a blackout and caused by a submarine cable bringing power from the mainland was damaged and it's not a quick fix. It would be in the west as we have equipment like ROV's but it won't be a quick fix here unfortunately. Have you thought about getting a generator mate ? It would be handy or solar electric even better.
