Touhou 13 Extra Stage Clear - Mamizou Futatsuiwa

Whew! Day one clear, so this is just for survival of the stage, not for any type of elegant play.
This was fun, the bullet patterns in Ten Desires might not be the hardest in the series, but they usually are quite fun to dodge.
The animated bullets here hurt my brain a bit.

Thanks for posting this. The extra boss music is pretty campy, it reminds me a little bit of bluegrass with an eastern feel--granted you are fighting a Tanuki, so I think it fits. Also 8:40 is she cosplaying you LMAO, she actually looks like Mario from Super Mario 3! Overall, this extra boss is a bit unorthodox when it comes to extra bosses, but a new one is always welcome!

@23tlp It's a reference to the game Kiki KaiKai (later turned into Pocky and Rocky in the US for the sequel.) In the game the tanuki Manuke (Rocky) turns into Sayo (Pocky) and chases her. The game was made my Taito, which Zun used to work for, so it's almost certainly a homage.

btw there is a really good stategy for tanukis school: wait at the first TWO shot an then go left to the SECOND "primate" on the left. then when the bullet are fired, quickly go over it and rush to the exact OPPOSITE of the next row. try it and be amazed!

In my opinion, using the trance on Nue is better than using it so late because you can typically regenerate enough to use it at the end like you did. For a day one clear though, way better than what I can do xD

Stream to one corner, and when the dolls are leaving the screen (don't get rammed by them), use the gaps in the bullets to get back to the center and stream to the other corner. Rinse, lather, repeat. WIth 4.00 power Reimu should be able to dispel after four waves, or three if you unfocus a little during streaming.

@shinmasaki Some of them have subtle tricks. The first one with the running dogs that looks like it's Red Oni Blue Oni's long lost twin? It's actually got a gimmick, if you're up high more things spawn - check out how it works. Some of them are pretty simple though, like the frogs and birds, but I suppose you could compare that to attacks like phoenix tail etc.

I wanna say correction, but what you type is also correct. The Spellcard is actually Transformation"Stupid Miko's False Exorcism". Its a very tricky spell card but easy if you pay attention to its pattern.

Actually the extra stage is a difficulty in itself. In the regular game you do get to choose the difficulty but in extra the only difficulty is extra :)

You can get them off of websites, yes, but you also need something like winrar, 7zip or winzip to extract the files and use the launcher. There's a video on youtube somewhere on how to use the emulator :)

oh and about that vertically-wiping line of people spell, try to pass through the line right when they're about to shoot, the bullets will be aimed to the bottom of the screen and not you it's kinda hard to pull off though :/

Nice day one clear. You know, for the most part, I feel like a number of those spellcards and non-spellcards are recycled from previous bosses, however. I saw ones that reminded me of fights with Yukari, Ran, Kogasa, Flan, Momiji, and a few others I can't remember. Some of the spellcards look outright mean and original, but a lot look done before, sorry to say.

Okay, since I don't have the full version of this game (yet), I have a question. The animated dog/bird/frog danmaku.... are their hitboxes static or do those move much like the bullets themselves? This extra boss would seem much more of a nightmare if it's the latter.
