Koishi Komeiji (Whose name I had mentioned so many times that I actually enjoy saying it) is the Ex-boss of the game Subterranean Animism, the 11th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooters. Danmaku is a term than can be loosely translated (and quite aptly in my opinion) into "curtain of fire" or "bullet hell", thus denoting game were high density in bullet is more important that a lot of enemies. The series was created and is managed by the one man team Team Shanghai Alice, composed only of ZUN. For more information on the series, check the wiki at the end of the description.
Koishi is the younger sister of Satori Komeiji and as such she's also a satori youkai. However, if you pay attention, her third eye is closed. This is because she wanted to evade the hatred her sister receives for reading minds. This plan, however, backfired and she gained the ability to read and manipulate the subconscious. She doesn't seem to mind though, so is all okay. I must admit Koishi picked my interest as a probably interesting character. To be so carefree despite holding such ability, reminds me of Yuyuko (though I consider Yuyuko's attitude a mere façade while I don't Koishi's.) I wonder how manipulating the subconscious actually works...
Another interesting thing to note is that Koishi is the second extra boss who is the younger sister of the mistress of the mansion that appears in the game. The other one is Flandre, sister of Remilia. This led to a humorous 4koma saying that by this logic, Mokou (ex-boss) concluded she is the sister of Kaguya (Mistress), who is her mortal enemy. Okay, they're more like friendly rivals who have nothing better to do while eternity pass by, but still.
Koishi has to be one of the toughest ex-bosses, if not the toughest. She is probably tougher than Ran actually. Her stage plus the boss fight are killers. She does possess the easiest non-spell out of all the other ex-bosses, but those are merely small pieces of haven in the chaos. As you can expect, most of her spellcards revolve around the idea of subconscious, which led to one of the most infamous spellcards in the series due to its shape. This led to me developing a battle cry (only that not really) whenever I fought the heart danmakus, saying things like Stupid perverted hearts. So...yeah.
Trivia time: Look at this video and the "Subterranean Animism Extra Stage" video. There's something odd. Whoever can identify what is this oddity I speak of wins a virtual cookie.
He/she can even try to request a vid from fight from any of the touhou games, even fangames. Maybe I'll comply, but just maybe.

Interesting. Koishi's basically just prancing around during "Genetics of the Subconscious", throwing around danmaku as she does. Ego-less (conscious mind-less) people are scary indeed. Don't you guys think the fact that she's fighting on instinct makes her the perfect fighter? She's unorthodox and is spontaneous, which makes fighting her a pain. Hopeless Masquerade and Urban Legend in Limbo further solidifies this in my mind.

I love the "Philosophy of a Hated Person" attack, it's really symbolic IMO. The way you reacted to it was just what ZUN probably wanted - the philosophy of a hated person is a horrible fungus-like explosion you do your best to dodge while still calmly traversing society (the rest of the attack). abt yr description, the reason koishi is so carefree is because when she closed off her third eye she also sealed off her conscious mind, so she can no longer properly bo loved or hated or to even properly feel anything anymore, so she cant feel all the pain and thus is so "carefree". anyway, touhou characters are all so cool!!!!! i love flandre!!!!!!! i mean who wouldnt love a blond loli bloodthirsty creepy cool awesome childish "playful" vampire who is mental and dangerous and could destroy the world with multi-coloured crystal wings??

Yeah, thought so...I heard Touhou 11 is the hardest Touhou game...(Even ZUN think he went a bit too far with Hard mode and Lunatic.) People find Touhou 8 easier only because of Spell Card practice. I think the "two-woman team" makes it a bit more complicated than Touhou 6 or 7. I beat Touhou 10 and the extra stage too! I feel so good. I'm gonna play Touhou 13 since that's the easiest one. So you gonna post anymore Touhou videos?

Another pointer: if you're headed into a gap, err toward the larger bullet, because /generally/ the bigger the shot, the bigger the difference between the sprite and the hitbox.

I think it depends on how well you can read the attack patterns. I find Koishi one of the hardest ex bosses out there, but I have the strong possibility of dodging all her non-spells and spells. Mokou on the other hand, has one really REALLY annoying non-spell that either kills me, or I have to bomb, and I find a few of her spells are harder to actually capture. I somehow find Mokou easier, but with the way I explained, it should be the opposite.

That's the kind of Touhou playthrough I enjoy: imperfect, yet skillful, with fun comments added ^^ I don't get why you compare her with Ran though o.O Ran is one of the "easiest" extra bosses (IMO, just a bit tougher than Flandre). As for easy non-spells, Flandre's are way easier (but yeah, Koishi's are quite easy by extra standards). This is really one of my favorite extra (probably tied with Flandre) ^^ I only cleared it 3-4 times though ^^; lol at 6:45 death xD

Oh the genetics spellcard does take the shape of DNA strands. It's hard to tell immediately because it's done in such a manner that the strand is '3d' but you can see the coils particularly around 7:22

I notice the spell histories seem wrong, like how some say you never faced them at all... Although the framerate drops in the video seem to correspond with the ones in the replays, and you did mention recording this video at the end, so I dunno.

SuperSupermario24 I think that's actually an issue of the replay interface. But the answer is close enough. They were recorded in different runs. In this one I did well against Koishi, but meh in the stage. Vice versa in the other.
