Touhou 15: Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom - Extra Stage

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘱 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘈𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘢 𝘉𝘢𝘥 𝘔𝘰𝘷𝘦 ~ 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘭 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺
With the Extra Stage here it’s all about memorization. Similar to what’s happened in the later stages of the game (especially Stage 5) the enemies come in very distinct squads. This stage is all about knowing what’s coming and acting accordingly before the enemies start firing.
Doremy’s ironically not terribly difficult to deal with. What with her first and second spells easier than her Stage 3 boss fight. However her last spell’s the most difficult one and unfortunately you really need to figure out how to consistently capture that one.
Hecatia then has a difficulty curve that goes all over the place. More important than anything there’s only six specific spells you need to focus all your effort into being able to beat. Everything else is just easy or downhill from there.

I just realized that Junko's husband is Hou Yi, an archer. And his wife is Chang'e but she ate something and became a moon goddess. There's a Chinese legend saying Hou Yi shoots the (9) sun, and the sun is a star

Junko and Chang'e come from differrent story. And their husband is different person too. He just have the same name but different China characters. So ZUN mix the two story together. First story is about Chang'e. The heaven have some kind of game of thrones. Result in have 9 suns. Cause an over heat to the earth. Houyi the archer go on a quest to shoot down the sun. He got an immortal elixir as an reward. And here the story split into 2 ending. If Houyi's goodness point is low, he will become a tyrant emperor. To prevent Houyi to become immortal tyrant. Chang'e steal the elixir and eat it. The side effect make Chang'e can fly. So she fly away to the moon and become moon goddess. 2nd story is Junko. Junko is an empress. But Houyi kill her husband the emperor, make himself emperor, take Junko as his wife and later kill her son. So Junko plan to take revenge and kill him.

For Hecatia's first nonspell, Junko was counted as an enemy before she left and you'll have to graze 400 since you'll only get 50% shotdown.

The exact safe spot for the last 3 faries before you see Hecatia will be with your hitbox on the intersection of 2 tangents: with the left of your hitbox tangent to the rightmost of "Shooting down" at the last chapter finish; and with the bottom of your hitbox tangent to the green line under the number of bombs.

Good thing you can unlock this stage after clearing Pointdevice Mode. I was actually quite surprised, especially since I recently completed Pointdevice Normal mode with Reisen, and it took me 861 retries. (I was playing LoLK to hopefully increase my endurance while playing Touhou.) I thought you had to not get hit at all or something to unlock this game's Extra stage if you try to unlock it with Pointdevice.

There is one thing I'm confused about. Junko and Hecate motives for their revenge attempt at Chang'e. Junko: Chang'e is the wife of the guy who take junko son life. Okay so i want to hear your opinion , what dp you think about the story of the past games ? Like 14.5 , 15, 15.5 and 16 . They are getting more story involve than any other game like tthe destruction of the barrier in 14.5 , the almost genocide of the moon from 15, the two goddess and dream self appearing in Gensokyo in 15.5 and the appearing of a new sage in 16. So whats your opinion in the story ? It's been interesting and it ultimately has me curious about where Touhou's gonna go from here for the first time in a while (the introduction of Okina really shook things up and I'm curious to see what happens now that we finally have another Yukari-tier sage roaming about) I do like the story that's going on, but I hesitate to say they're more "story involved" rather it just feels like this is the theme of the newest "arc" of Touhou. Touhou 6-8 was an introduction arc, Touhou 10 & 12-13-5 was a religious war arc, and now we have Touhou 14-16+ being a "let's mess with the foundation of Gensokyo" arc. And as for Doremy, considering the sheer power Hecatia has that ZUN confirmed, I don't think Doremy was "fighting" Heca, rather just staying out of her way. Similarly I feel she attacked you either cause she's sick of people barging into the Dream World left, right, and center. Or for similar reasons to why she fought you as a Stage 3 boss, cause she knows the dangers that are up ahead.

The three deathfairies at 6:00... have a safespot. As Reisen, you want your right main shot to align with the fourth petal in the purple section of the UI on top. Not sure of the positioning as other shots, but the safespot is rather large and gives you a ton of graze.

I'd argue with your end cirques that, while the have is very luck based, and I agree this should be one of the first touhou games you beat, I don't think you necessarily need to "beat" bit. This was the third touhou game I played, but I never had any allusions about 1cc-ing it. Between Reison's bomb being so ridiculous the the other characters also seeming more powerful that other games, I think LoLK is one of the most fun touhou games to just play. If you aren't aiming to 1cc it, then it isn't nearly as punishing. And the ridiculousness of the spell cards goes from annoying to entertaining.

On average the game itself takes about 2 weeks to beat as does the extra stage, generally with a few hours of play every day.

quite excited for your Violet Detector first impressions... there is some interesting stuff going on there... though there are some interesting spells in the game but some are just aggravating and on par with Double Spoiler Day 9 if not worse also I bet you'll like HSiFS, its difficulty is on par with UFO and LoLK but the attacks are rather interesting in my opinion (though there are still a few which are just simply aggravating)

Higan is where souls go to be judged before being sent off to Hell or Hakugyokurou before they return to the cycle of reincarnation. Eiki is Yuyuko's boss, and Hecatia is one of Eiki's superiors in turn, "one of the leaders of her organization" according to Eiki. The whole afterlife system in Touhou can be a bit bureaucratic sometimes. Old Hell used to be Hell, until they had to relocate due to an increasing number of souls, at which point the oni and other shunned youkai from aboveground moved in and made it their home.

You need to capture this, or just restart the stage. You only get a 1-up if you dont die or bomb, so bombing aline might as well be considered dying and if you die it's the equivalent of losing two lives... ???

If you die or bomb to that spell you don't get a 1-up, rather you just get a life piece. So if you not only die, but because of that death it makes you miss out on an Extra Life as well you'll be down _two_ from the maximum total you can have when fighting Heca, not just one.

I personally think that Pointdevice mode could come back, but the game needs to be based around Legacy mode(however, it would probably bring the same problems that Fire Emblem has with Casual mode).

I think the problem is that Point Device is too easy to play. Honestly it's just trail and error and you can beat it in an afternoon. Following that, Legacy mode with a game that's balanced around Point Device is like marathoning one of the camera games or Impossible Spell Card without dying. Point Device can probably work, but the aforementioned gameplay of Legacy Mode needs to be changed about so it's balanced around Legacy Mode rather than the same gameplay Point Device has.

Hard to say. Choice spells and the final spell was harder than this, but those could be retried much faster, plus is was shorter all around. This may not have been _as_ bad, but it was stretched out much further plus the hardest bits were very late in the whole stage ("Lunatic Impact" anybody?)

Which Boss is the hardest Extra/Phantasm boss?

Official games wise I'd say Koishi. Yes this might have had the toughest spells I'd ever faced in an Extra before, but it also had some of the easiest as well, but SA's Extra was more consistently difficult all the way through. Coupled with the cruel resource system (you get life pieces only when you prove you can beat attacks without dying) I'd still call that the toughest one. Though if we're counting fangames into that list I'd put Concealed the Conclusion's Phantasm fight against Reimu, or Riverbed Soul Saver's Phantasm fight against Kiyohime as the toughest Extra/Phantasm I ever did.
