There we go with another BIT video. A lot of N's I guess - no miss, no bomb, no special, no hits (hitless). Plus, huge Komachi's hitbox so guess I'm done.
Extra's stage part wasn't too creative either, but I don't mind at this point. At least the boss were alright to me :v

東方門殊銭 ~ Bubbling Imaginary Treasures is a third... I guess? Touhou fan-game made by Gore/Corey. Full game was released at 11 November 2021. As with the other of their games, this one also mixes several Touhou games by partially imcorporating their mechanics or boss' patterns. There are many references to Touhou 11 SA and Touhou 12 UFO, even as to tell that Extra stage is a kinda reproduction of one known from Touhou 11 (at least stage-portion-wise).
Two updates were rolled out, improving performance a little, as well as changing some patterns, like ultimate spellcard.
There are four playable characters to choose from: Reimu, Marisa, Sanae and Komachi, each with three different shot-types, bombs and special abilities (aka Skills or Assist Spirit Strike). Gathering enough money enables the player to use a skill, and depending on player character it can have various effects.
For the record, there is an achievements/trophies system known from recent Touhou games.

[ HP system ]
As with Gore's previous game - Franticallt Forbidden Fruit - here we also get HP bar. Once you get hit, your HP decreases. If by any chance your HP would be decreased to zero, it will be set to 1 HP, but then the next hit will result in a miss and losing a life.
HP taken from a hit is not random. It depends on a hitbox of a bullet (in pixels I assume) x4 + skills level x2. When it is a laser, it is fixed to 100. When player is not in focus mode, damage is doubled up.
Sanae can halve the damage when in skills mode.

[ Mechanics of the game ]
Game borrows mechanics known from Touhou SA and Touhou DDC, and it's very apparent. The multiplier from gathering items can go from x0.50 to x5.00, eventually getting much higher when PIV multiplier is applied, up to x9.99.
It has several thresholds, at which selected number of resources are dropped (from 1 to 4) depending on items collected and multiplier achieved. It will also make clearing circle bigger. At x5.00 and higher, it will cover nearly all the screen, even with the player at the very bottom of the screen.
Players' skills can be activated once one gather enough money. They can be collected through grazing, clearing the bullets, dropped from killed enemies and at the end of stages when your performance is calculated. The effect of skill depends on shot-type chosen.

[ My thoughts on BIT? ]
Honestly? I expected some better fangame coming out from them. I mean, this being half a rip-off of patterns from official games is just a part of the problem. I mean, we still have Stage 5, 6 and Extra stage bosses with more unique patterns. Notice I have said "half a rip-off".
For the biggest problem out there: there is no survival play here. Not in this game. Seriously. Since the only option is a HP system (no insta-death mode), plus one is provided with "Assist Spirit Strike"/skills system which is powerful on its own, and pretty much unbalanced characters that can take off most of bosses in an instant... well, where is a difficulty in it then, when anyone can beat this game effortlessly?
Sure, I have taken some hits here and there (guess I had enough of the game already), it's not like it's ultra free so anyone can pull off a perfect run instantly. And yet, it is that easy given that system. It's horrible.
And the second biggest problem: performance. My 7yrs old PC and Win10 system cannot handle it such that it wouldn't lag every so often. So, I had to use my Win7 build from TWC to handle it, and even then there were lags during recording, even with some effects cut. Plus, memory leaks all over there, which eventually slows down the game dramatically. Like, please, it's the first thing you should have fixed instead of the ultimate attack...
Otherwise, the game would be fine. Quite average, compared to the rest of Touhou fangames out there, even some Western ones. But still a fangame :V

BIT: "Hey can I copy your homework?" SA: "Sure but don't make it look obvious" BIT Extra: It definitely feels like there was more effort put into making the boss here, which is more than I can say for FFF's Extra, but there's a few similarities to Koishi's attacks that it's hard not to notice once you realize it (even part of the theme uses part of Hartmann's Youkai Girl). I'll at least give Gore the fact he didn't just throw in Koishi as the Extra boss for whatever reason (or try to get popular character points?) but Ringo basically having Sanae's spell cards but with a thin coat of paint is a bit awkward.

OK I will be completely honest here. The boss is -for gore standards - really not that bad. It DOES have creative and mostly original patterns as far as I can see. I can actually see some creativity in those patterns. So CLEARLY gore CAN make creative new patterns... So why doesn't he do that more? Why is the stage a near 1:1 copy from SA Extra? The most frustrating thing about gore - aside from his... interesting opinions regarding the west - is that he CAN produce a great game. He DOES have the necessary skill. He CAN produce interesting and original patterns, but he simply does not do it.... No matter how great the boss is, I would hate having to play through a stage I already know every time I want to fight it.

I agree with you - he's fully capable of making something good and original so why does he constantly rely on existing patterns so much? I was honestly wowed by the cork spells in stage 5 and wanted to see more cool shit like that

He simply can't be good at this point. Three games and it still look like trash, compared to the team making Last Comer to Riverbed Soul Saver lol.

This is pretty much like an SA Phantasm, and that is by no means a bad thing; It is really cool to see old ideas with creative twists in them, I'm a big fan of the Sun Wu Kong inspiration being applied over spells, both old and new Same thing with Ringo, honestly This really ain't bad at all

The one issue i had with Gore's games is that they focus more on making them look pretty instead how fun and challenging they're supposed to be. The result however is that the screen looks clustered with so many details i tend to not be able to see the bullets properly. Plus, they are either too slow or too fast, depending on the difficulty, not helped by how the hitboxes tend to either be non-existent or are just bigger than the bullet. Not to mention the patterns are so basic than Junko would look more creative in comparison to Gore's over use of static lasers and rainbow patterns. I get that they're trying to be more creative with BIT than if FFF and PoIB, but there are so many things taken from previous Touhou games there's barely any improvement.

Really the wukong 2hu boss is the best thing outta this extra. The spell using the staff and the random effect bullets was great. The stage however...... Is just SA extra 1:1. Even ringo is copying sanae's midboss spellcards with added dangos.....and FAR more easier. September 2023 edit: and now the boss is not as original since zun already gave us a monke youkai lol
