Eirin's theme. ...Time is the medicine that heals all wounds, but every medicine has side effects. This feels like an appropriate message for the doctor who created the elixir of immortality, the literal drug of time.
Based on the song's title, I thought it should tell a story. For Eirin, and for the princess who drank her elixir, the entire eternal night incident is one of its ongoing side effects, so that's what the story is about. Eirin speaks with a stern air that lays out just how much knowledge she possesses of everything going on in the past, present, and future, truly the brain of the moon.

That is a good observation to make... It was intentional in that I specifically wanted to convey Eirin as one who doesn't talk much about her own feelings. But I was also worried that focusing so much on her loyalty to Kaguya would come across as inappropriately emotional in itself. I would say all her thoughts are simply connected by logic and context, though. I hoped enough Eirin-specific motifs were present throughout to keep it feeling like an Eirin song.

You've certainly done Eirin justice with the rather serious tone of your lyrics. I liked the retelling of Kaguya's backstory, and the part with the melody of Theme of Eastern Story turned out really great as well. The phrase "the past never dies" really says a lot about the plot of Imperishable Night... The immortals' story as defined by their pasts is never over.

Ah, yes, one of the two women who keep challenging my eternal OTP... 'Cuz, let's be honest; Kaguya and Mokou's relationship has all the passion one could ever ask for, but Eirin's devotion matches their feelings step by step... I mean, she literally created the Hourai Elixir of Immortality just because Kaguya asked her to, despite knowing that doing so was a sin in Lunarian eyes, severe enough that it would result in Kaguya's banishment to Earth, not to mention the stigma that Eirin would be slapped with, and then, when Kaguya's time of exile was over and she was supposed to be taken back to the Moon again, Eirin outright murdered her fellow emissaries and hid away with the princess, all for Kaguya's sake... That's some A-grade devotion right there. Pity then that both Eirin and Keine (the second woman who keep challenging my eternal OTP, just fyi) fill important roles other than romantic interests on my ship, that being counterparts to each other meant to demonstrate that no-one can get between Mokou and Kaguya: Keine is mortal, so whatever feelings she may harbour for Mokou and whatever her relationship with Mokou may be, it's _very_ temporary from Mokou's and Kaguya's pov. Keine could just as well have been a mayfly that fell in love with the Sun... And while Eirin is immortal, thus putting the problem of transcience aside in her case at least, she is basically servant-zoned by Kaguya as the princess is far more concerned with people who'll always be able to keep her entertained rather than people who'll merely always be by her side...

I see Kaguya and Eirin's relationship to be more like a mother(Eirin)-daughter(Kaguya) relationship, not really a ship. Hence the strong devotion from Eirin to Kaguya, I feel she protected her as a mother would. Just as she taught Toyohime and Yorihime.

That's right.~ It was admittedly made a bit clearer in an earlier draft of the lyrics, but I think you can still tell by things like "So this evening's secrets leave you wide awake. / You who hunt for the path shall have a choice to make." That's exactly what happens in IN, where the protagonist makes a choice to pursue either FinalA or FinalB, the fake moon or the true moon. For what it's worth, of course, the introductory bit of the song is more like a flashback... She's now repeating it to the protagonists, since the song is all about history repeats itself, but there's enough evidence on this channel to prove who she was speaking to originally.

While I'm pretty sure the Clownpiece reference at the end is just a funny Easter egg (probably foreshadowing that Clownpiece's theme is the next to cover), I also heard Lyrica say that she wants her songs to be open to interpretation, and I've come up with two of those, both of which take place during Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom or the events preceding it rather than Imperishable Night. Eirin is either addressing the human protagonists or Clownpiece herself (and by extension her two masters) - In either case, she is talking to someone who is or has been an enemy of the Lunar Capital with the intention of explaining the background behind their enmity and making them see the Capital's point of view, in the former case pleading Reimu and Marisa to put aside their differences and unite against a common enemy. In the latter? I don't know enough about Eirin's personality to determine, but considering even the Lunar Defense Corps were unable to stop the invasion on their own and had to call upon impure humans to assist them, I feel justified in believing Clownpiece isn't the sort of enemy that Eirin could simply defeat with power.
