One weird game I have is to look up the artists for the official Touhou manga and find out what their yuri ships are. Which because they were all collected from the Touhou fandom, most of them have dabbled in that. For instance the artist of Silent Sinner in Blue did a NSFW Sayaka/Remillia doujin, and the artist of Wild and Horned Hermit drew Komachi kissing Kasen. But even most official artists making slashfic doesn't beat out in weirdness Alison Airlines, one of the many artists in Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia (he drew the long-neck Sekibanki you can see in this video), who is a massive stoner who draws art of the Touhou characters doing weed, cocaine, LSD, you name it. He even made a doujin which is essentially a detailed guide presented by Marisa and Nitori on how to grow your own weed. By the way, you called Harukawa Moe "him". She's a girl. Her gender's one of the only things we know about her, she's really secretive. I never found no yuri doujin by her unlike pretty much everyone else.

Raiko hanging out with the Prismriver sisters isn't the best example for things that don't happen in the games given that they're performing together in 15.5. In fact, those two manga scenes are there to explain how that happened: the first has the Prismriver Sisters break up the band and the second reveals it to be a publicity stunt to announce their new member so if anything them hanging out together would be completely normal.

I LOVE Alternative Facts in Eastern Utopia. Being released in 2017, it should be clear who ZUN is taking jabs at. I cry every time I read the interview with Hecatia Lapislazuli. Nothing makes me prouder to be a Touhou fan. "If you build a giant wall somewhere, that wall is definitely coming down someday, and if you exclude people you consider "unnecessary", then you're definitely setting up your own downfall. Otherworlds aren't "distant" worlds, they're just your neighbors." Really brave stuff.

These books really butcher and flanderize Youmu's character into being almost just a punching bag and nothing else. She might as well be a separated character from the Games Youmu there.

They are all canon to touhou, if anything, they better flush out and reflect her true personality and character. I wouldn't say punching bag, she's just silly and a bit more interesting if anything, and she's like that a bunch of times in the main series games too.

@@ranadelray They do the complete opposite of fleshing out Youmu's character, they flanderize it for the worst. In the main game canon Youmu is a stoic-looking but dorky swordswoman who is confident if not boastful of her sword skills. In the mangas/print works, the "dork" part of her is blatantly flanderized to the point it becomes the only trait and aspect of her character. She is portrayed as being outright clumsy, unintelligent (even compared to game canon) and weak and she is never seen fighting or even gardening once. Instead, the only things her character is used for is being the butt of jokes and being ridiculed. She almost never does anything meaningful in her appearances even when it's not about being made a complete joke of. Her character in the games & spin offs meanwhile is actually fleshed out, more complex and better handled in comparison. The books side of the canon also contradicts itself, at least regarding Youmu. There's the one Aya interview book where it states that Youmu has supposedly no "free time" when in reality whether it's the games or other print works, Youmu is constantly seen wandering around Gensokyo casually both with and without Yuyuko, whether it's to solve incidents, participate in parties/feasts, visit the Hakurei Shrine or even just chilling reading a book. This is not her "true personality".

​@@ranadelray That's the thing... you're wrong. I specifically explained how the opposite is true and you can look it up yourself. We know Youmu never really fights or even do gardening stuff in the books, it's facts. We know that the vast majority of the time Youmu makes an appearance in the books, it's to be used as a butt of the joke or otherwise derided, it's facts. We know that some of the "info" about Youmu from the Aya interview thing is contradictory, it's facts. Correct me if I'm wrong. And as a "lack of evidence is my evidence" thing, there is very little to zero scenes in the books showing character development or otherwise "fleshing out" Youmu's character there. If I'm overlooking anything, you're going to need to point out to me specifically where I forgot to look.

I actually have the Thai version of forbidden scrollery at home. Very surprised to see it mentioned here. Weirdly it didn't come with a removable cover like other mangas published here, and the glossy coloured pages inside were changed to normal paper. Also the book itself is 95 THB (around $3), which was considered expensive in 2015 because mangas back then sold for 50-65 THB (less than $2). Adding to the size of the touhou community here I guess that's why it didn't sell well at all and the publisher folded the series almost immediately after volume 1.
