6:12 THIS! If you want to have good characters, it's one thing to have them stay consistent. It's another thing entirely to build on the already established aspects they have. I loved Wriggle Nightbug as a character so much that I wanted to expand on her, so I did. Needless to say, the payoff was worth it. Probably because I like characters who go through struggles of their own and come out of it a changed person.

It’s nice to see more reviews on this title. I was worried that it was going to just slip through the cracks, and I’d be the only one who got it. I already know that I was the single only person in my entire city who preordered it. 😂

My goodness, I will admit that despite being a fan of both Touhou and strategy games the trailers for the gameplay made me veeery hesitant if it would actually mesh well. But wow, you sold me completely! Heck even before the gameplay segment you had me interested in getting it for the story alone! I'm not a frequent commenter but thank you for an amazing review as always!

2:28 PERFECT while nothing can beat Sawashiro Miyuki's rendition of Marisa in Summer Day's Dream in my opinion, deep voiced Marisa is always great.

A big bonus for me is that, like Gamemaker Revolution, it's one of Compile Heart's first games with a spanish sub.

I could already tell a lot of love was being put into this game when I saw the official channels showing snippets of the character themes. *SPOILERS* Plus, it also helped hide that the game also featured Bhava-agra as Seen by a Child's Mind and the amazlng remix of Hidden Star in All Seasons.

Funnily, despite the game being a bullet hell, I actually ended up taking a defensive, turtling strategy. I grouped up the characters together and just spammed group heals, buffs, 4-5 cost bullets, and the Ace spell cards when available. It worked surprisingly well, though I never settled on a final party to truly optimize it since I was trying to get all the side events. So anyway, the game was co-developed between Compile Heart and Sting and they obviously both brought their own styles to the game. Compile Heart mostly handled the presentation and writing as far as I could tell. In fact, the artstyle of the game was handled by one of their mainstays, Katsuyuki Hirano. See "Generations of Chaos", "Spectral/Blazing Souls", "Agarest", "Moero Chronicle", etc. Part of me wonders if they also got their mainstay composer, Kenji Kaneko ("Neptunia", "Agarest", "Cross Edge", "Death End Re;Quest", etc), to do the remixes but I'm not entirely sure on that. Sting seemed to mostly do the gameplay and it's very reminiscent of one of their earlier games, "Knights in the Knightmare", which goes back to the DS and PSP days. It also had this bullet hell type of gameplay with units on the field. Though not the exact same obviously. So "Spell Carnival" is practically a spiritual successor mechanically to that, just through a licensed IP with a different spin.

@@vadim_65rus don’t know. Honestly I think this game would control better with mouse and keyboard. If there were a good pc port that’s probably be my recommended way to play
