I'm sure it's just a genuine misunderstanding because he skimmed the end too fast because he was streaming. I'm not the only one who's been trying to tell him this, but we can't give up. She talks about loving earth and life in almost every single dialog. I've even seen memes of her in an "I heart earth T-shirt" What she doesn't like is "the scent of death" from Orin and Hell itself, but who would.

I think yt ate my comment again. Most of them would probably accept it, some with more difficulty than others. The ones who would kill you would probably eventually do so anyway. Also youd need a species neutral character because most youkai wont want to date a human in character (some may even be incapable of normal emotion too)

That said, Yuuma's the one of these that wouldn't care in the slightest. She's an outlier of the matriarchs. She doesn't really try to get subordinates - the animal spirits just follow her anyway because she's so cool. If you're lucky, she might not consider the calories worth the effort.

i would argue for kisume actually belonging in the DIE tier for the simple reason that her most common first response to meeting someone new is attempted murder (which usually fails though) but with jon everyman being either too preoccupied with professing his love or expectant of a loving hug in response unlikely to dodge that attack

The extra stage for LLS is not because mugetsu or gengetsu did anything in particular. Reimu wanders into their real and mugetsu says she is pleased to meet her and Reimu basically says she smells evil and then goes on to beat the crap out of Mugetsu, and Gengetsu gets angry and fights Reimu and after they lose they ask what reimu is even doing there and she actually didn't have any reason to be there. As for Marisas version she is just looking for a fight because she is bored.

Honestly, I think "leads you on" should have been a tier. I know streamer assumed that Jon's confessions all fail, but in a place as vast as Gensokyo, I refuse to believe that there isn't one girl who'd accept his confession just to toy with him.

The jail time criteria here is "are they allowed to drink?" With some exceptions. Which, lo and behold, almost every single Touhou character canonically does. Our friendly neighborhood bookworm included. Also, if memory serves: Kosuzu is almost the same height as Reimu. Why she's generally regarded as being on the shorter side is anybody's guess.

@@smol_hornet613 She's generally seen as being shorter because of Forbidden Scrollery's art style, mostly. All of the girls are depicted as basically tiny there, but even compared to the other 2hus, Kosuzu's consistently barely taller than Marisa, who's infamously small in basically every official thing she shows up in. My only complaint with the "Kosuzu doesn't go in Jail tier" thing is that Sumireko and Chiyuri both got insta-locked into jail solely because of their age, but Kosuzu doesn't despite being younger than both of them at 14 y/o, because she didn't get in trouble for drinking.

@@H1_R3Z I haven't really gotten the impression of the girls being smaller in Forbidden Scrollery. Nitori is an hilarious exception, but other than that most of them are about as tall as Reimu, which from what I've seen is a pretty average height for a young japanese girl. On a side-note: comparing any character's height to Marisa, in particular, is an up-hill slope. She is consistently just shorter, or just as short, as whoever she's standing next to. I've seen frames of her being as tall as Reimu. There's even one shot in FS where Kosuzu, Reimu and Marisa are *all* the same height. Also, Kosuzu has a canon age? This is the first time I've heard that.

@@smol_hornet613 She doesn't. Only information about her age is that she's younger than Akyuu. Akyuu is 29 according to Perfect Memento in Strict Sense written by ZUN(Official book). She could be anywhere between 1~29.

Nitori... kind of displeased how she turned around in fighting games. In my headcannon she would blush, immediately activate her "optical camouflage" and run away shouting "sorry". On the other hand I also see her as cheerful inside (even if shy) but also as having her stuff together, not being so shy as being scared. She is a seen as leader figure for kappas afterall. She do be standing her ground. I do not accept fighting games as cannon (fight me) but accept streamer's opinion, it be good.

Forgive me gentlemen for being late to this kappa party. But allow me to throw a curveball here. I actually like her attitude in the fighting games (and by extension the print works) I don’t believe it conflicts at all with her portrayal in MoF. I believe Nitori is a gal with many layers, and depending on the situation you see different sides of her. Having said this, allow me to present how I see confession and rejection would go down. In my opinion. You are likely to get a two somewhat similar reactions, depending on when and where you did your confession. I’m scenario 1, you find her alone on the Youkai mountain, and then proceed to tell her how you feel. She is very likely, to give you a good hard look for about a min, and then quickly comprehending what you just said, becomes red with embarrassment, she turns invisible and bolts for it, either saying she’s sorry or calling you a human weirdo. (Hold on to that last part.) In scenario 2, you find her while she’s at work, trying to sell her wares or working on some project for a customer. If yo come to her and drop your confession then, she will look at you for a few mins, and then give you attitude, accusing you of playing a prank on her, and then she may even threaten you. She then probably tells you to buzz off if your not gonna buy anything. A bit rude isn’t it? Seems like it, until you consider something in both scenarios. She is confused in both, cause she would be trying to wrap her mind around why a random human she’s never met before, is not only hitting on her, but a kappa no less. She may suspect foul play, cause why would a human do that? He seems genuine, but isn’t that weird, that this human wants to romance a creature know for eating human children and taking the shirokodama of humans? (Which is canon in Touhou btw) In both scenarios, she would assume you were up to something. If you corner her alone in the forest, she’s likely to panic a bit more and run off. But if you confront during work, she’s likely to see your actions as intruding on her business or attempts to mess with her. (This is all assuming this is the first time you officially meet her. You may know who she is, but she does not know who you are.) That said, this is all assuming she would reject you, and this is meant to explain why. In a different scenario, I legit believe you can successfully court her, but it would certainly be a funny one.

@@bc9402 Oh my, welcome fellow kappa. I see a possibility that theres a syncronisation of one or a few braincells among us here. I had some thoughts regarding you perceiving kappa that way and would like to agree with some points. Such behaviour of kappa might be indeed within acceptible range of her shyness. Her having "many layers" I believe indeed brings a more refined character out of her. Wait what is this even about... no, perhaps I lost a few of those braincells. Anyways! You make sense with that second scenario, I can see people having their different sides all the time. I mean one at work, another while being alone and acting in a different manner and such. On the other hand could it be that she is so shy that she's unable to properly express herself in words? Perhaps she's mix of both or sometimes she's being misunderstood in fighting games? (I really want to bring my headcannon in) I have no clue about hitting on someone or how it works, but I would too see this as a weird thing (random person doing it) without even considering if its a human or a fellow kappa doing it. Also, her using her camouflage to mask herself being shy is cute. There I said it! now I'm embarrassed too.

@@neru_d Romance is already a weird minefield for people to navigate. And that’s just with humans. In this scenario, it’s a human hitting on a kappa. Which is even more unknown territory. (Not to mention, if we look at actual kappa mythology, this would look like a insane thing to do. A human trying to court a creature that is infamous for eating children, kidnapping people, and stealing their souls through their butts) Side note: I could absolutely see Nitori making some dark jokes about that. Say you succeed in courting her. She may make a joke like “If I ever see you human with another women, I’ll be taking your shirokodama as compensation.” She says with a cute smile, but menacing aura. That said, If anything, Nitori is probably one of the more likely gals to return your feelings. (Assuming you actually got to know her first and she became familiar with you to some extent. That way, you get to see the other sides of her, and through that, she’s feels more comfortable around you. Earning Trust is the key here.

Funny thing, we all saw Meira turn Reimu down in Touhou 2 and her reaction to this. She literally went "What?" and Reimu didn't even listen. Reimu on the other hand, seems like the type of person to go "What?" to any person who confesses to her regardless of her rejecting or not(on the other hand, she might even go: "I'm a shrine maiden, I can't get married"). 43:20 Cirno is pretty much a baby or toddler to Letty with your description of what Letty has to go through. 34:47 That's one way Dai might reject a person. The other way, well, let's just say Reimu, Yuuka, and maybe Okina might wanna have a word with you. 38:42 Knowing Remilia and Flandre, it's also possible for them to go "What?" before laughing and insulting you. 1:13:07 Medicine would either kill you with poison or Alice will do it herself.

This is because shrine maidens are technically married to the god they worship and are pretty much suppose to be like nuns where they dedicate their whole life to the deity they worship. They also are suppose to uphold a vow of chastity until it is time for them to step down. When they do get married and have a child, the shrine maiden is expected to step down from their position and let their successor take over. So yeah, they can't get married unless they want to retire early.

@@readthiscomment6748 Well that's one way of wording it but yes, that's correct. They are "married" to their deity until they decide they wanna retire and "formally divorce" to marry someone else and have a successor. Usually the kid comes after the marriage since the baby begins training once they become a young girl and after the start of the menstruation cycle. Sometimes, the miko is appointed by a village chief or voluntarily trained so it's not always a direct generation to generation.

This is such a great idea for a video. Btw. We've actually more or less seen Sannyo do this to cheaters in Lotus Eaters. The answer is polite, cheeky sarcasm. If we weren't operating under the assumption they are just straight rejecting you, I'd say we could have used a "Lost Coin Flip" category. There's a few characters I think would be down for a random date (not a one-night-stand you sickos, just willing to be bought dinner for the evening), and they reject you just because they ain't feeling it at the moment.

So, I have a fan character in Touhou whose entire premise is that she's a goddess of relationships. While she generally encourages and helps foster positive relationships, the type of character whose heart would be warmed by growing friendships and blossoming love, she has the ability to manipulate those relationships as well. She could turn best friends into bitter enemies in an instant. This tierlist is kinda just having pissed her off so she places a curse on you to where you're unable to have any romantic relationships.

Would a tier list of “how many standard deviations above mean partner quality among humans, would a person have to be to have a chance” (where “no human from the outside world would ever have a chance” would be a tier) make sense? or maybe all the characters that would be a licit target, would be in the “no human from the outside world would ever have a chance” tier? (By “number of standard deviation” I mean like, judged relative to the standards of the character in question, or, if applicable, the culture background for which the character’s tastes would be representative of. So like, for the onis, with the value being measured by an average rating by all the onis, I guess, unless there’s a reason to expect one of them to have substantially different tastes in terms of how they would rank potential persons (not just what standards they have relative to their tastes)) Like, if someone was simultaneously brilliant, had a body nice enough to make good money modeling, and was personable and such, would such a person have a chance with e.g. Rika ? Would Genghis Khan have a chance with any of the oni?

There are a few characters who might still say yes even to the cringe stranger confession. Some of the ones I can think of are: Cirno: But only if you frame it as her being some kind of hero for doing it. Aunn: Would pretend to date you while secretly being your wingman to make you less cringe and pass you to someone else. Kosuzu: Would give you a second chance even if you fell flat on your face the first time as she has openly expressed her desire to find a lover.
