It's interesting how Mima's omake treats her as the official god in Reimu's shrine, but the only things we know about the Hakurei God is that Reimu's predecessor rebranded the shrine as one dedicated to Lord Tenjin, it got undone later and Misumaru helped with the creation of the Yin Yang Orb. At first I wasn't exactly on board with her return would because she'd likely not add much, but I just thought of one interesting way to add her back: reveal her past as an Evil Spirit was because she was furious over her shrine being desecrated.

Patchouli is a super character, also. She could've easily been just "quiet reserved mage" but she's actually talkative if the subject is interesting, she doesn't hesitate to smile if she has something to smile about, she praises people if they impress her etc. I think it's always good to keep in mind that she's Remi's best friend (even that cute name (and the reverse name, Patche) is telling). Basically no way she'd be gloomy in spirit, yeah

I personally disagree with the last statement despite agreeing with the others, her dialogue in the fighting games and her Eosd Reimu conversation make me easily see why her demeanor could be described as gloomy in general even if that's not all her character is. On a tangential note, ZUN said that he wrote Patchouli's theme with the image of "not have a moment of light in it". On a completely unrelated note that I just wanted to share because this has been bugging me for months, her theme doesn't have the "secret", it has "sealed" in possibly the longest lived Touhou mistranslation in the series. ZUN even made it clear in his music notes that he was referencing to sealed rooms in another And Then There Were None reference (only referncing about a girl who has been in a library for centuries instead of a murder case).

Pretty sure the bit where they discuss the library being added to the SDM for Patchouli was in one of Immaterial and Missing Power's win quotes. That game also has a win quote from Sakuya where she says they've been planting mandrakes in the garden to keep intruders out, which is why you fight them at the entrance of the mansion in Luna Nights. Memories of Phantasm also references this. If those lines weren't from IaMP, then they were definitely from either SWR or Hisoutensoku.

I believe the mention of the sdm being in the middle of misty lake in Remilias omake from in, comes from the translator mistaking it to still be there, as the original text says, the sdm is on the shores of misty lake

What if it's on a peninsula stretching to the center? Then not only would it be on the shore, it would be at the center and it would appear to be part of the main shoreline when looking from the edge of the lake.

"幻想郷にある湖のほとりに" that's right, it says "ほとり (hotori)" which translates to "side (esp. of a waterbody); edge; bank; shore​" In generel, the idea of SDM being on an island in the middle of the lae was most likely another "And Then There Were None" reference.

So, according to PCB Reimu *could* do more stuff with her powers, she just chooses not to; meaning she could easily start gathering followers through performing miracles, but because of her personal beliefs that that hard work on her part wouldn't actually pay off, she doesn't. Also, the sun rising over the Torii and the shrine being at the edge of Gensokyo in combination mean that the Torii is basically supposed to be pointing towards the Great Hakurei Barrier, and the entirety of Gensokyo is actually behind the shrine; at least if the shrine is in the east. If it's in the south it would be parallel to the Barrier, but considering the symbolism of the Torii it almost HAS to be in the east, right against the Barrier.

Daiyousei as a mature or timid girl is heavily fanon. If you see it as is, her two for sure canon appearances have her causing trouble by being a midboss and joining in on fairy mayhem. The only potential exception would be that Hirasaka Makoto drew a fairy who could be Daiyousei in one of the mangas, who ran away from Reimu while she was trying to play hide and seek with Cirno. However, I personally never figured that was "really Daiyousei" since the mangas are a bit looser with unnamed characters or bonus/background elements (like having "Lily White" and "Lily Black" in the same frame)

Thankfully, that bit about the Lake is just a mis-TL. Always gotta check the Japanese text! 幻想郷にある湖のほとりに、その紅いお屋敷はある。そこを仕切るお嬢様である。 ^Says it's on the shore (ほとり). Actually I should update that on the wiki--Edit: done. I did find that there's a Strange Creators article talking about how by EoSD alone, via dialogue and omake text, you can figure out that the mansion is (or, I guess, WAS) on an island in that game.

The tidbit about Great Hakurei Barrier being made right before EoSD isn't really true, we know that the Sages made the Gensokyo alongside the Barrier, otherwise the youkai wouldn't be able to exist. Additionally, we know that the Dragon God was last seen thousands of years ago and it was last seen by people as the Barrier was being made after the Sages offered their full alliance and worship to it.

Fun fact. Reimu in lords of vermillion has the jp voice actor as Kagero,Est, and surprisingly Ross. (one of my favorites from fe8 sacred stones) va name is Rie Kurakawa (did i spell it right?)

OK, Sakuya's was just a treasure trove, I've gotta write some of this down: -Sakuya may be 10 years old during EoSD, no way to know for sure -Sakuya is a foodie, that initially only works for Remi because she gets to cook high quality food with expensive ingredients -she has a cat's tongue -she is 100% a proficient babysitter with years of experience -she aspires to become as good at throwing knives as she is at cooking, implying that her cooking skills are incredible; way better than knife throwing -she doesn't retrieve her thrown knives because she likes them, but to save money (and the environment), because she doesn't actually get paid -AFTER EoSD Sakuya seems to now actually be pretty happy with where she works, growing to have a deep bond with Remi over time
