My husband informs me that butter and buttery derived from butlers who handled the bottles. The room was called a bottlery which morphed into buttery….🤷🏻‍♀️. Love your pieces/decor. Our farmhouse does have a small pantry which I would love to turn into a buttery but first have to rid the shelves of appliances.

I totally understand abouy fashion and function! A lot of these items were in our house pantry and it just wasn't functional enough so that's where my extra appliances are! Have a great weekend Paula and thanks for watching!

I think this is fantastic! When I was visiting Ireland I saw a buttery and I *had* to get a picture of myself with it beacuse not only was it a cool thing, but it also sounded so silly with that word in it! THanks so much for showing this to us! I wonder if young kids and weird adults (like me) in the 1800s thought the word "Butt'ry" was as silly as I do! Please don't think I'm not interested; I just love silly things and I love these sorts of connection with our ancestors. I don't have any experience spinning plant fibers but I do dye yarn for a living and I think spinning plat fibers would be so awesome. : ) Thanks so much for this awesome video!

Yes, I did enjoy the butt'ry very much! Interesting how the bark was still on some of the wood and that the cracks were filled with mud. That box of Irish flax with the contents still intact is especially nice. I'm wondering what the handles of the cutlery are made of. Thank you for the tour!

Love the Butt"ry !! So many treasures in it !! I grew up in a late 1800's mill village house and we had a pantry connecting to the kitchen !! I loved playing like it was my hide out !! It was used for food storage and grandmother's cast iron cookware.
