Thanks for showing us Christ the Redeemer on the clear day Prowalk Tours. What a feat of engineering it would have taken to erect it on the mountain. I would not have seen the hiking trail if it was up to me as I would be too scared to twist my ankle on the unlevel ground. I liked seeing the waterfalls. Safe travel to you and your family. Donna.

Hi Donna, you are very welcome. It was tough to find a clear day to get up there. I don't think I'd do that hike again if I ever went back. An Uber is much easier. :) I just booked a ticket to Japan. I'll be heading there next.

Wow! What a lot of people! That was quite the hike along that trail, mostly uphill and narrow in parts. Nice waterfalls. Awesome views at 1:48 timestamp( if I remember correctly) Must have been awfully hot and humid in the bush! The scenes from the christ statue made me having the same feeling as in many other places (the peak in Hong Kong for instance) I am not a friend of mass tourism... Regarding the weather - I have been to Rio some times, with not-so-nice weather, and my theory is that Rio, like for instance Bergen in Norway, have a climate lying next to a large sea (the Atlantic) and with a steep landscape coming up the air forced to rise, and having the condensation from humidity, clouds appear and at the end very often rain...

Hi!! First of all, I’d like to say that I love your videos! I’m a follower since I saw, for the first time, the video of Pompéia. My favorite videos of yours are the ones about Greece (Santorini, Athens), Italy (Pompeia, Naples, Verona, Rome, Lake Como…) and Egipt (Cairo). I thought you’d never come to my city, but here you are😂 What a magnifcent surprise! I confess that I, even as a carioca, I’ve never heard about that hike to Cristo. Shame on me! I would say that going by the train is much better. Also, I think there are better trecks and hikes to do in Rio, such as “Pista Cláudio Coutinho”, in the neighbourhood of Urca, with a breathtakig view, and with a way that leads to the hike of Pão de Açúcar (sugar loaf). Another one is the one of Morro Dois Irmãos, in Leblon neighbourhood. As for the beach, Copacabana is a little decadent, it hasnt got the appeal and glamour of the 50’s and 60’s anymore. Nice work. Christ The Redeemer was actually a idea to have the statue of the Princess of Brazil, Elizabeth I The Redeemer (Isabel a Redentora), in honor of her long and well suceed fight to end slavery in our country. Been a catholic, the Princess recognized that the true responsible for end slavery in Brazil was Jesus Christ, thats why we have today on Corcovado, Christ The Redeemer.

The majority of those "horror stories" about crimes in Rio are probably legends. The city really have problems with violence (like other great cities in the world), such as gunfights between factions on slums with made hundreds of victims through the last years. But it's nothing like every wall having a gun prepared to shoot at anyone. In general, the city is safe to visit and also live. You just have to, sometimes, watch the place and hour which you are walking. I am from the state of Rio, and every time I went to the capital city, with my cellphone and listening to my music while walking through the streets, I never had a sense of real danger. We have a good people who cares about each other, a rich culture, opportunities of life, and anyone can come here to visit or live. It's the meeting point of the world.🌎❤

Issac. How many steps on this trail up to the statue? Some areas looked tough as you went higher and some of the trail looked very worn out, it is a jungle out there. I plan on watching this video more than twice. I am interested in the plants around the palace. Did you run into an animals along the trail? I enjoyed watching your trip thru the woods, but other than the waterfalls, think it's overrated I was expecting the path to end much closer to the statute. Yet, there was more uphill and switchbacks. Seeing those crazy clouds around the statue was neat, however, I was thinking of you completing that long walk only to walk into a cloud bank.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed when I got to the top that day. The hike was not all that interesting, but I wanted to include the entire thing...like I always do...but in part, because some people may want to see the trail before they visit. It is hard to know what you are getting into by reading the travel vlogs...and usually they describe it as being amazing...which I don't quite agree with. :)
