Crockett is located on the Mexican land grant Rancho El Pinole made to Ygnacio Martinez, and is named after Joseph B. Crockett, a judge on the California Supreme Court. The town started when Thomas Edwards Sr. bought 1,800 acres (730 ha) of land from Judge Crockett in 1866. Edwards built his home in 1867 and when other settlers arrived, he started the first general store in Crockett. Edwards' home still stands and is known as "The Old Homestead", a California Historical Landmark. Crocket Ville post office was established in 1883, and the name was changed to Crockett later that year.
In 1906, an agricultural cooperative of Hawaiian sugar cane growers bought an existing Wheat Factory that never opened, refitted the facility, build additional structures for their refining needs, eventually turning Crockett into a company town for the California and Hawaiian Sugar Company, (better known as C&H). The cane was grown in Hawaii and delivered by ship to Crockett, where the C&H refinery turned it into a variety of finished products.
C & H soon became a dominant force in Crockett, which has been called a "company town."[a] By the 1920s, the company employed about 95 percent of the residents. Employment peaked at 2,500 just before WWII broke out.[8] C & H helped its employees obtain land and bank loans so that they could build houses. Company architects worked on designing the houses. The company funded many school and civic programs.
In March and April 1938, Crockett experienced a labor strike at the C&H plant, climaxing in a riot. This was prior to the merger of the AFL and CIO national unions.

Visited Crockett once. Lived in Vallejo late 80s. Used to go to the marina and watch Crockett from there. Nice view.

I picked up a number of sugar truckloads from the C&H Sugar plant. Cricket is a very unique small town - looks like a glimpse back on time like a time capsule in the 1960s. Good film.

Yo! Miguel! Another Gem of Crockett you gotta meet, is a man by the name of Richard Gomez. He’s a local chef in town, well known and well respected. He cooks food at the Club Tac on Pomona St during the week. You should check him out if you have not yet. He used to own and run a restaurant in town called “Emilios Cafe”. Was one of the well known restaurants in town. I miss those days. He closed down in like 98-99’ due to health reasons.

@@MiguelVM360 the good thing that Crockett California doesn't let any big business come in that little town. They keep it small family own store's bar's and such. It's like going back in time in the little small town. Who knows maybe something new can be built on the sit? Probably not it's just a run down dirt mud gravel lot.

What a great informative video, I like how you covered the C&H history. I'm definitely going to check out the Dead fish restaurant now too as I do work at the refinery from time to time. Do you have any good locations for where to fly from if I want to take my drone here? Maybe the Crockett Hills Regional Park?
