@@fronolox4616 Depends on the hike itself, but allow 8-10 days. Depends on the length of the TMB. I did it in 7-8. But sometimes 12 hours of walking.

Fantastic photography. Thanks for sharing. What time of year, month, did you go?
@hikingtheblueplanet44472 жыл бұрын
The best time to go is between July and August. But the downside is that it could be crowded and the lodging options is also limited. We went the beginning of last July when the COVID restrictions were just lifted for vaccinated travelers. Definitely plan ahead if you want to go during these months. Alternatively, you can go during the shoulder season, June or September to avoid crowd. I suggest you carry a pair of mirospikes as some area may be covered with snow in June or September.

Thanks! TMB was definitely one of the most beautiful hikes we did. We started on July 17 and finished it on the 27th. This is usually the busiest time of the year. But this year the trail was relatively quiet due to the COVID and we were able to find accommodation without advance reservation, specifically in Italy where camping is not allowed.

Hello from Chile. With my husband we want to go to the TMB in August. We are looking for information regarding the shelters and the lodging system, but we have not been able to obtain clear information about it. We want to camp with our tent, is that possible?. Do you have to book in advance? I imagine that it may be similar to the system we have in Torres del Paines, but I would like to have certainty so that I can reach this great route with confidence. Thank you so much!
@hikingtheblueplanet44472 жыл бұрын
Hi, the TMB covers France, Italy and Switzerland. You are only allowed to camp in France and Switzerland. There are camp grounds along the TMB and advance booking is not required based on our experience. These camp grounds are quite basic, with no indoor cooking area and can be very crowded. In Italy section, we had to stay in hotels and mountain huts (refuges). The mountain huts have limited capacity and they usually get booked up very quickly. So you should definitely plan and book in advance if possible. You should also check out the TMB hiking guide by Kev Reynolds. We found this guide was extremely helpful. It has all the information you need to plan your trip. Torres del Paines has been on our list for a while... we are hoping to do the W circuit next year!
@Nicogq2 жыл бұрын
@@hikingtheblueplanet4447 Thank you very much for your answer. Torres del Paine is a wonderful experience, but I highly recommend the "O" circuit if you have the time to do it. It is physically demanding, but well worth the effort. The W is to be left wanting more, less demanding and without being able to see the majesty of Grace Gray from above. Really if you can do the O. A big hug!

How did you go about choosing & booking camping sites (through a company or privately?) Were there places to charge electricals at the camp sites? (I will need to carry & charge an 82,000 ma battery for my hike). TIA

Hey... we spent 6 months exploring and hiking in Scotland. If you have time check our Isle of Skye video or any of our Edinburgh shots. Regarding booking for TMB: our situation was unusual because we went during COVID when few people were traveling. Mostly we stayed in campgrounds (outside) but did find some comfortable indoor spots along the way.
