I have heard a lot about this cow shed on the rural exchange radio show while milking at the weekends on magic talk / today fm. Interesting to know your brother works there

Cool set up but how much did it cost! And also I can milk 600 through one shed/ one man operation. (60 rotary, two herds using batt latch system so they walk themselves home. Whereas they need two people at least at all times so there’s another cost of labour unit. Also does he have an agitation device or stirrer in that proliq trough? Thanks for the tour though, but seems an expensive operation and they could look at recycling green water as the water bill must be sky high. Some neat innovations nonetheless.

I’m sure it wasn’t cheap I didn’t ask that question. Yes it is possible to milk 600 by your self, how long does it take you to milk? I’m not sure if they have a stirrer in the proliq. Yeah it’s a interesting cowshed to take a look at. I understand they are look at doing something like a flood system recycling water. Thanks for the questions

What a confusing set up! You’d spend all ya time setting gates and entering in drafts. Some good ideas but some of it just doesn’t seem overly practical
@FamilyFarmingandFun2 жыл бұрын
I think I may have been a bit confusing explaining it. Pretty much once it’s set you won’t change it, but it does give you options. For example you have the first herd on the yard getting milked the second herd can come in and get mixed up while cows are being milked and leaving, then when they are leaving one herd gets drafted to the proliq the other straight to there paddock and if you decided to dry off 40 cows you could draft them separately. I struggle to write things down, hopefully you get where I’m heading.

Most likely a nice set up but you don't want the let the shed go to fast if you have auto cup removers going to fast cows not milked out enough means high cell count
