I was heading to Guatemala back in 1976 and was in Mexico traveling overland by bus and I heard about the earthquake and ended up staying in Mexico for a couple of months the news was that it was a very bad earthquake and thousands died so I never made it there till the early 80s but my trip in Mexico was very good. It was a different world traveling back then I would say that Guatemala is one of my favorite places in my travels especially the Lake area.

Wow, that brings back some good memories. Our favourite village was San Juan. I'm pretty sure that gallery at the beginning of your video is where we bought our painting. It's one of the popular "vista de pajaro" market scenes - we love it. Interesting no one seems to be wearing masks.

@@VagabondAwake Hej Dan - I enjoy your videos and photoes so much and very good information. But in this video, I miss a better technical quality and I wonder if it is compression from upload.... o or just a cheap camcorder? I will maybe buy a gopro myself or the new Samsung Galaxy 21 - don't you think it will do it better? You did not answer on equipment? Do you use a gopro?

There are a few clinics around. hospitalitoatitlan.org/ But for something serious you would need to go to Guatemala City. Not a realistic choice in an emergency.

So If You Decided To Live In One Of These Villages, Which Would You Choose And How Would You Spend Your Time???

Anyone seriously considering moving there should start off in Panahachel. It’s easy to travel from there, there’s a lot to do there, plenty of cheap accommodations and other expats to talk with about their experiences.
