Your driving tours of affluent LA neighbourhhods are the best I've ever encountered. I love hearing about real estate history, local information, glamorous gossip about the owners who sold and purchased these homes and just hearing from insiders working in the real estate profession about the lesser known facts about living in these streets. You are such a natural. These areas are incredibly gorgeous-- frontage and landscape gardening etc are ENORMOUSLY overlooked in most areas in the world and it's pure uplifting eye candy to see what is possible, what CAN be done with money in a quest to make the entire neighbourhood neat, beautiful and a total pleasure to drive through and/or live in. Just gorgeous.

So juicy and fun; he covers NYC, LA and goes all the way back to the beginning with a gossipy, highly informative story unfolding from there. Love it! It's period drama for real estate and architecture lovers. 💖

@@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 Thanks for the book recommendation! As for googling, there isnt much to see in the images section. Go to google maps, type in ''Aerdenhout, Netherlands'' and drop the little yellow man somewhere in the area. Streetview will show you cozy streets with lots of foliage and trees, as well as villas..... ....Actually, I just had a look myself and a lot of the houses have been blurred....it's a shame I can't show you Aerdenhout. Of course it pales in comparison to neighborhoods like Holmby Hills, but it's definitely up your alley. A lot of the Dutch elite live here.

Pretty boring compared to the French and Italian Riviera (where they have the same Mediterranean climate) because there is very little color. Yeah. I didn't think about this until a month ago when I saw a news report on people in my city revolting against Air BnB (generally speaking, the older generation of people). I'm from San Diego, and a good percentage of housing here is up for Air BnB. Personally, I find the situation a little gray for a many reasons. But yes, I can see why some people are upset that potential permanent homes are out of reach for people that actually want to live and work in SoCal whether it be short or long term.

So people who work hard and get a few lucky breaks shouldn't be able to do what they want with their money because other people failed at life? The world is overpopulated and there has always been and always will be the haves and have-nots. Most people are homeless because of poor life decisions. Don't become addicted to drugs and booze, stay in school, work hard, don't have kids until you can afford them. It's not that complicated.

For those who have never been, L.A. is such a fun and sexy place. Radio stations play music from the '70s and '80s everyday, you see classic and vintage cars EVERYWHERE, the weather is so dry and bright, and the people are awesome. Very bicycle-friendly city, too.

Yeah I wouldn't call any city "sexy" though. But i guess you're anyway only referring to West LA... If not, all of that lovely dry weather becomes a menace in the summertime.

Great tour! You would think for those prices that they would pave the road! One of many reasons I prefer Orange County, but this geoengineered drought has me wanting to leave this once beautiful state altogether. I can’t take the aluminum nano-haze and whited out skies any longer, not to mention all the dying trees and fires.

Don't forget about your six figure property tax, maintenance and utilities which by itself will chew through your pockets. Not only will you have to be wealthy to afford one of these homes but you would need a chunk of wealth set aside for the upkeep. Nothing short of Markus Persson status selling your creation ''Minecraft'' and dropping seventy somewhat million on an estate on Hillcrest in the Hills of Beverly with a cool billion plus left over to fool around with.

Nice tour thank you! You would think with all their money they would all get together and pave the road themselves. That's horrible the way it is...it makes the homes not look so nice when the road's not nice.. IMO. My favorites are the 1920-1940's era homes!

Mr. Choo FYI, Producer Ray Stark lived at 232 S. Mapleton Dr. from 1962-2004. TV personality Art Linkletter lived across the street from Ray Stark and actress Judy Garland lived approximately two doors down the street from Mr. Stark in the direction of Sunset Blvd. back in the 1960's. Judy's house was torn down some years ago and a more modern house was built in its place.

Nice, but, try comparing these homes in LA , to the affluent suburbs of Mexico City, as an example. the properties in the USA are left in the dust. As a USA expat I can definitely tell you…the USA is WAY overrated, nice video, though.👆

Its a shame people come in and tear down classic historical hollywood homes and that the city allows it. isn't there any protections for that sort of thing in LA? I see simular disregard for property up north in Oregon most purchased by Californians. it's bad practice that changes landscapes, environments, drives up prices and drives out locals. Money should not rule everything; it can be quite damaging in some instances.

Old homes were often poorly designed, chopped up, no modern amenities. Things change, as do lifestyles. No one can see these homes anyway as they're almost all screened from view by tall walls and hedges. I agree with you somewhat, but it's not really germane to this neighbourhood.

I think 377 S Mapleton, home of Mancuso, was used as a location in the 1963 Doris Day hit "Move Over Darling" with James Garner. The house actually is a different house (the one in the movie probably torn down years ago to make way for a larger home) but at that location because in one scene you see children boarding a school bus and there's a street sign that can be seen... Mapleton and Wyton. And the slope of the hills today is unchanged. Interiors and pool scenes were done on sound stages. "Move Over Darling" is the film Marilyn Monroe started but never finished under the title "Something's Gotta Give" in 1962. In 1963 it was repackaged as a Doris Day vehicle. The story is a remake of the 1939 Cary Grant Irene Dunne comedy hit "My Favorite Wife".

LA is so expensive I rent a two bedroom one bathroom 950 sqft apartment for 2,200 a month. Freaking ridiculous. Ill give you a heads up if you drive around this area for too long the police will defiently stop and ask you what your doing. Don't try to casually walk around unless you live there.

Just fascinating and staggering wealth.I can only gawp and be horrified at the realisation that a lottery win ,which now all seem so small and won regularly, would be insufficient to buy even the most modest of homes here in Mapleton.Again America's wealth is beyond my understanding even in the midst of an economic crisis. Here in London our most expensive homes are being snapped up by foreign buyers either fleeing crazy regimes, despots or just outright thieves and drug dealers, how does the USA avoid these ghastly people?

@@nf2885 - Ignorance is bliss. Please tell us which country is perfect. You know, the one where no one does drugs, gets drunk, commits crime, everyone works and makes a good living, taxes are low to non-existent, and everyone has unlimited free health care. There's no such place. Every country in the world practices socialism to some degree. It's what enables you to get an education, have libraries, parks, police, fire fighters, roads, sewers, etc. If you went to a public school or park, or drove down a road in your life, you've enjoyed the benefits of socialism. You think socialism causes extreme poverty? Good one. Try drug and alcohol abuse, single parent families (you know, the ones where the fathers bugger off), lack of education. Start there for your answer.
