The library must have been awesome when first constructed. I find myself fascinated by the stone work, especially of the columns. The city appears to have been quite a contrast of polished and sculpted stone mixed with rough but functional construction. Love the video. Artemis doesn't appear to be quite as great as in the first century C.E. Keep up the good work, my friend.

Right you are about Ephesus. As for the Temple of Artemis, it's amazing how dramatic and moving a single column can be, forgotten in a field with a stork's nest on top (which I failed to mention in the video) once you start thinking about how prominent the place once was.

Many thanks for the kind words. And thank you for helping me discover your channel. I've just subscribed. I don't speak German but it's a language that I broadly "understand" when hearing it so I'm excited to let you give me "German lessons" as you travel. :-)

So sad to see a great land once populated by Hittites, Greeks and then Romans, creating advanced roads, monuments, theaters, libraries, and places of learning & culture to be taken over in the 1400's by a warlike illiterate nomadic tribe from central Asia. They have no idea of the great minds and philosophers that arose from those lands, nor do can they even emulate the greatness of these ancestral lands. I guess sheep hearding, planting fruit trees, raising chickens, and living-off tourism is their highest contribution.
