There’s so much to see between Bath and Keswick, not just four hours of motorway. The Stonehenge site is miles bigger than the stones themselves. Archeological research shows that there are many burial sites close by, a bit like the famous being buried in cathedrals. The Cornish pasty has a large crust on it as these delicacies were taken down the Cornish tin mines as it was too far back to the surface to go up for lunch. The folded crust is the part the miners held on to with their dirty hands whilst they ate the filling and pie crust. Traditionally, you might have a savoury filling on one side and a sweet filling on the other. York has town walls you can walk on, a beautiful Minster where your can hear the choir practice is you’re lucky, the shambles - medieval shopping streets, and both Viking and Roman museums. The Viking one is good for kids, eg it includes the smell of a Viking midden (loo). (If you look up Leeds Castle, you’ll find it’s in Kent - way down South.)

After watching your great London video I have to say that this one was even better. It showed the quaintness of the English countryside that England is so famous for. Bath is one of my favourite cities and is practically just down the road from me. You should also visit Bristol which is the next city along. There's so many historic attractions in Bristol. SS Great Britain, Clifton Suspension Bridge among others. Cheddar Gorge, the home of Cheddar Cheese which was invented in 1170 is also another great day out, with caves, restaurants, cheese shops, traditional English pubs, small lakes and the Gorge itself, with stunning scenery up on top of the Gorge. Your camerawork were top notch as usual. You all seemed to have fun and when you can keep two kids of their age happy doing the things you did shows how well they've been brought up. So glad you like our country and there's definitely much more to see. 10/10

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here . For such a small island there is so much to see . It is possible to spend months here and not see all that you would wish to see. A word of advice to visitors . Best time to come over here is end of August and the beginning of September . It can rain a lot here , so bring a light waterproof coat and shoes. You will be walking a lot more then you are used to . So have comfortable shoes. Hire cars ; most are manual shift here . If you would like a automatic , arrange to have one ready for you on your arrival. Finding your way about ; ask for a car with a Satnav or GPS . There is a little booklet called , " The Highway code ", printed by the government . Which only costs about $5 . Which is a gold mine of good advice on how to drive over here .Get one before coming over and read it . A one hundred miles in the US is nothing , over here it is a great deal . Even on Motorways if you average 40 miles an hour you are doing well . The cops here are not like some parts of the USA . If you are lost or need help ask them , they will help. Also most people here will help if you ask .

There must be a standard American travelogue of places to go in the UK which steers you/them away from most of the places which are actually worth travelling to and would, in all probability, be a darned sight less expensive that those you've been to. Whilst I can understand the superficial appeal of places like Bath and the Cotswolds, the UK is so much more than a few tourist traps and nobody from over there, ever seems to come over here and look off the beaten track, which means you miss so much. I never cease to be disappointed when watching video content such as this, at the lack of adventure - it strikes me that it isn't enough to just get on a plane and travel over here, that in itself isn't an adventure, it's just travel - the real adventure would start when you dump the travelogue and just go.
@travelinginspanglish2 жыл бұрын
Firstly- I didn’t have a travelogue. I created my own list of places I wanted to see. And while I appreciate your commentary- travel is subjective. Bath was my favorite place I visited… I truly loved just being there and didn’t find it gimicky. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip because it whet our palates and gave us a taste of the UK, so that we could decide for ourselves if we liked enough to come back and see more. And if you don’t like the video- then don’t watch it and be on your merry way. Kay, thanks✌🏽
@travelinginspanglish2 жыл бұрын
Oh and btw- it was a total adventure FOR US. We had the time of our freaking lives so….
@sailing_raptor2 жыл бұрын
@@travelinginspanglish my point wasn't that I didn't like the video, it was that you travelled to the places you would predictably expected to go to but the UK is a small place with just about every form of geography and topography it's possible to find, from Northern Europe's only arid desert, to permanently snow capped mountains and from (relatively) vast flat plains to palm tree bordered beaches, few of which seem to be on anyone's itinerary, ever. One of the things that isn't appreciated by foreign visitors to these Islands is that history is absolutely everywhere. Most people can find echoes from the past by digging in their back gardens. Within a stones throw from where I live there are several prehistoric castles, burial mounds, a large roman bathouse and villa, two roman roads, several large houses á la Pride & Prejudice, ancient battlefields, the list is endless and it's easy to become blasé about these things but the whole of the Country is the same - there's stuff everywhere, all you need to do is research it. I can't see the point in trudging around tourist 'hot-spots' with all the other tourists, when you can go off the beaten track and experience the real Country.
@travelinginspanglish2 жыл бұрын
I hear you. But when you are traveling with kids… on a very limited time budget- you have to hit the biggest and best bang for your buck spots. Just like a Brit might do when they come to America. Any money bet that most Brits hit places like NYC and LA and miss a lot of the beautiful small towns we have here. It’s the same thing. I can assure you though, we loved England so much that we WILL be back and we will explore more… and hopefully get even more off the beaten path.

Winter? We came late April- early May. That’s Spring in my book. But the reason why, was because it was the end of our school year. And not “high season”. It was actually perfect.
