Touring on motorcycle in Gran Canaria - Coastal road GC-200

In this video you can join me for a little tour on one of my favorite roads here on Gran Canaria the GC-200. The most scenic road out here I am sure. I am riding my Yamaha Ténéré 700 m.y. 2019 and gives a few tips about the Island and riding here.
I regularly spend here about 3-4 months a year, usually during the winter time when there is a perfect setting for riding every day.
🏍️ Motorcycle Rentals

Some rental companies on south of the Island of Gran Canaria does not allow me to rent a bike unless I stay at some of the south's hotels... which I don't :/ Also when you rent, make sure they allow for example travel through Islands, which is an amazing thing.
🛥️ Getting to Canary Island by your own bike/car
It can be done from Huelva or Cadíz in Spain and it takes about 35 - 45 hours one way. The price is in my experience starting 230 EUR / one way for one bike and person... It makes sense when you go here for 1 month or more.
☕ Where to buy a good coffee?
I know it is not the most important question on earth, but still a topic discussed in the video. So... there are not much coffee shops with a really good coffee, but I would suggest these, which are superb:

Great video, we often ride in Gran Canaria and the GC200 is my favourite road on the island. If you carry on to the very end closed of part, you can walk around to where the huge rockfall completely blocks the road. Wish we were there now, it is a bikers paradise.

My partner and I rode the GC200 last year, what an amazing road with stunning scenery. We where due to go back this year, but due to the covid virus we missed our holiday. Hopefully we can return next year before the road is completely closed.

Drove this road ten years ago with a car. Not the same experience for sure but the scenery was amazing nonetheless. According to Google maps it’s still possible to drive the original GC-200 all the way but I don’t know how it is in practice and for how long. I just wonder why would they close it permanently, after all the new road was build for safety reasons but the old road is not that dangerous at all esp. in the daytime and driven with moderate speeds.

Thanks for the video! Im in Grang Canarie right now and will be renting Husqvarna Norden on Wednesday-Friday and plans to go around the best roads. Is this GC-200 still worth going? You mentioned that after the tunnels open some parts of the roads will not be used anymore but I assume that is only some bits and the rest is still there? Any other roads recommended? My hotel is at Telde so will be starging and finishing there every day.

Very beautiful video and beautiful coast road 🤩 BUT for me (after traveling to more than 100 countries) there is no better place to ride a (road) motorcycle than in the Alps, also for me is very horrible to be stuck on an island because I want to go out and explore different direction (but I think I could spend one winter in Teneriffa 😉). Of course it’s inly my subjective opinion :) Are you planning to do a long term review about the Tenere 700? Talk about issues etc.? I’m considering buying one and this would’ve very helpful :)

Hi Alex... Alps are not bad.. spectacular in fact... Yes. Tough even for me to compare, but there are so many plus points here on the Island, especially small traffic in mountains... it is possible to explore here like 8 islands, but that's kind of expensive by ferries... hm hm

Great Place Las Islas Canarias, however for me the north of spain is just unbelivable, specially on autum, if you havent been, i cant not recommend you enough to go, the most beautifull roads on the spanish territory.The chezck republic does have really nice forest roads too, i am pending on visiting some on a future europe trip, greetings from Madrid ;)

Im from Gran Canaria and i can tell you that you can come whenever you want . We are fortunate to have a 24°C average temperature. In summer time you have more Brown vegetation and in winter and spring its all Green and beautiful. Now for example countryside is very beautiful cause its has been raining for a few months.

Hi Rosta. Nono, these people you saw on video are local people. There are many many local bikers both on Gran Canaria and Tenerife... they are specially out on the weekend :) There are some tourists riding bikes, but minority I guess.

Amazing videos as always, and they're indeed some of the best sceneries. Just one small thing: the Canary Islands belong to a European country, but it's in Africa, not Europe. Like the French Guiana isn't in Europe.

It's both in Africa geographically and Europe politically, its a province of Spain, same currency, same TV, same phone companies.. Its not like some French colonies with indigenous population own laws or government own flags and else, population here is Caucasian as in Spain and though in front of Africa when you're there you're in Europe. It's weird now I write it.

You must hurry Up. They building Tunnels and new Highway in construction at this Road. So perhaps this old Road will be disappeared
