Great comparison, Dave - you definitely showed that there is good value to be had going with an older gen T7! I do find myself every now and again regretting selling my 19 T7, especially when I'm on the freeway on my WR250R, but then I forget about it when I'm in the tough stuff 😆

There’s something to be said for reliability. I think you hinted at it in the video, you wouldn’t buy a used adv bike from other brands with 20,000km on the clock but the t7 👍. Team orange, 20,000km is approaching new cams, valves, cylinder head. I’m still waiting to hear from KTM when they will arrive, bike sat at the dealership unused with five others with cam issues, similar age, waiting on parts.
@longbow0728 Жыл бұрын
@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV The WR has comparable suspension and I'd argue better from the factory then the KTM. Plus the tanks do what the KTM does, shifting the weight lower which is frankly what makes the KTM so brilliant. Anyone know an AUS dealer who'd be willing to order me the GYTR parts and ship them for me? We can buy them in the US.
@longbow0728 Жыл бұрын
@SomeRandoInternetPoster I want that reliability after putting up with some of the issues on my 890. Not here to win land speed records but want the simplicity of changing fluids, adjust lube chain, sprockets every now and again, and ride.

5:09 "How much does it weigh?" There's a quote I saw on r/motorcycles, probably butchering it, but it's to this effect: "The guy that inows how much their bike weighs, is the guy that doesn't ride it." Whether you want to take that as: "Once you get rolling it doesn't matter, doesit?" or "If I was just moving around the garage and not riding I'd be bothered to know how much it weighed innit right?" Is up to you, I choose to interpret it as; if you care how much your bike weighs, it's not being used (to it's full potential) and just being pushed around in a garage. As that's the only time weight matters.

In this bike category, I'd definitely go Norden Expedition, 890R, or Desert X before the T7. Considering the time you have had on the bikes mentioned, I'm surprised you like the T7 as much as you do.
@emilenossin5098 Жыл бұрын
Just transitioned from a R1200GSA to a T7 World Raid. I've considered the Norden, 890R, Desert X and Tiger RP as well. All of them are a LOT more expensive than the T7 World Raid, even considering the extra features the other bikes have. But the Norden was just too tiny for my 1.90m frame and the reliability issues with the Norden and 890R are just too much for me. I've had enough trauma with my Moto Guzzi to again go for unreliability. The Desert X is really cool, but just waaaay too expensive. I'm also guessing, not sure though, that's it's very expensive to maintain. I also don't like the combination of its tank volume combined with the much higher fuel consumption compared to the T7. The World Raid gives me serious range which I've come to appreciate on my R12GSA. So those were my contemplations with the T7 WR. Bullet proof reliability, big tank, great suspension, made for tall Europeans (which I actually expected on the KTM/Husqy, the opposite was true), much better looks, very low fuel consumption, easy and cheap to maintain, cheap to buy and an extremely large collection of aftermarket goodies.

@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV agree, I'm on a 2019 1000, haven't riden a 1100 yet as they are hard to come by new or used, but im sure your T7 setup specifically for you would do better offroad. In saying that, I think half the fun of ADV motorcycles is the personal challenge to take them "where they don't belong" just to show the nay sayers that its rarely the bike that is the limitation in 90% of cases, it is the riders skill and determination that matters.

unnecessary power you really don't need more than 25-30 BHP. You can make the bike so much lighter, Not to mention the MPG will be so much better means you can just take half the fuel and reduce the weight further. 40BHP+ is meant for rally, not just off-roading and a total waste make a bike < 140 KG 25-30 BHP something like 300cc fuel injector but no electronics.

@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV honda crf300 is about the correct bike in weight engine size and power. that can do highway and offroad. just make it with the needed styling. off road does not need 25bhp, the only reason i said 25 bhp is to manage a cruise speed of 75 mph on highway, a 20 bhp can do 75mph too but wont have any reserve power left.

Just watched your Nundle Rumble ride which I have done on my fully farkled T7. Old mate shaun should have bought a KTM 500 if he is worried about weight. Its an adventure bike mate designed to load up and tour on short or long distances. Get sick of blokes banging on about weight. If uou cant ride a loaded bike youre doing it wrong!!

You guys rate the T7 very highly as a second hand ADV, I was wondering what is your view on 2021 era KTM 890 R second hand?

I love this channel but as someone from North America its funny when they use words like "fruit" or "Farkle". I can guess what they mean by the context but it cracks me up. Oh yeah can't forget "Cracking" :D

Once upon a time Long long ago. All bikes could go off rd, had very little gizmos to go wrong. Now unless u get one built? T7 is the only ralle ready bike! Crazy how something so simple has become so complicated! FOR WHAT REASON!
