They developed these rich locations around the military bases at 37 Cantonments including the Presidential palace itself so in terms of security, which is very important, it's top notch and highly guaranteed so the diplomatic missions also sited their embassies and residents over there and the airport was built closer to this location and thus these high end locations are interconnected. That's what made these locations very expensive.
@JasmineAmaa4 жыл бұрын
That makes sense
@utopiancitizen4744 жыл бұрын
@@JasmineAmaa yea.So the military base,police headquarters, prison service headquarters, ambulance service headquarters, presidential palace and diplomatic missions and residents are all located at the Cantonments area which makes it the most expensive location in Ghana. It will be suicidal to try to rob at the highest secured location in the country and note that the official name of Oxford street is Cantonments road so they share the same location including Labone,then airport residential is the second most expensive location cos they are also closest to Cantonments then East Legon follows,etc and the farther the place,the less expensive it becomes.

It's interesting also in that it shows how the "street" part of even affluent areas isn't necessarily appealing. Driving by the south african embassy to Labone, you encounter potholes , meanwhile houses are so expensive. But is still relatively nicer than the roads where I live which are bumpy and hilly, and untarred bumpy roads, and people have chicken and goat running around and you don't see that in Labone and East Legon. But the video doesn't depict affluence, there are some really nice houses but I guess you would need access to show that. Like if this representing affluence in Ghana, you would think we don't have much in Ghana. Osu Oxford street, though expensive and touristy, I wouldn't classify as affluent.
@perfumesrus75044 жыл бұрын
You are right. I wouldn't classify Osu as affluent. I was thinking of Airport residential area, North Ridge and Cantonment. Those places are lush ☺️

But she never said Osu Oxford street is an affluent neighborhood, she was showing her that side of Accra which to her is more central. That’s the vibe I’m getting. If you live in Ghana you should know by now that it’s the urban roads who are in charge of building roads and maintenance on the roads in our communities so if you have queries I’d suggest you ask them.
