That settler volcano reminded me of a game I did. I was playing as Rome during the classical era and send a settler past an active volcano. 'If I read it's name tag saying Mount Vesuvius and paid better attention in history class I should have know what was about to happen.

There's a problem if the Civ on with its own continent has a religion, once had a similar thing in a domination game and had to worry loosing because of religion. The only difference in my game was, that the other Continent had two AIs, but one of them was the Kongo (is this the English name?), so there was still only one religion on the continent

@@jan-lukas You can always go straight for capitals though. It's only a problem if you don't think about a solution, and I think Potato is smart enough to find the (arguably pretty simple) workaround. Or he could lose to religion and that would make for a fun twist to his last vid 🤷‍♂️

Holy crap thank you Potato! I'm a newbie at civ trying to beat every type on Deity (I am playing console however), but you've given me the perfect attempt to try a diplomacy victory with the Kupe! Hey Potato, what are some things you’d want to see improved in the game? Personally, I find trading necessary but dull. I’d like specializations that change yields, and to have actual traders that would only use land, water, or air and make the bonuses more powerful as techs that would make traders carry more or travel faster. I also would like builders (not just Mil Eng) to create highways to help you move through your empire faster earlier. Rome having auto roads is a bit broken.

Aidan Abregov I know I’m not Potato but I think the trader ideas are cool, like to have a cargo plane for faster trading and more yields. I don’t think Rome’s auto road is broken if you make the right trade routes as other civs, still a very nice ability though

Matthaeus it’s not really broken, but the roads to capital and auto build monument are very useful in gaining an upper hand early.

You've definitely focused a lot more on faith than I would, which probably means that I don't spend enough time on faith. One thing I'm unclear on, if you or anyone else doesn't mind enlightening me, is exactly what is the relationship between tourism and culture? Like, I get culture victories once in a while through just brute forcing great people, but I feel like I'd be a lot better at it if I understand what increases the amount of tourists from other countries, i.e. the kind of tourism that actually wins you the game? Also, #findthebuilderyoulost. I miss that guy. :(

great works are the main source of tourism for most civs. After you research flight you will get tourism from all your tiles that have culture as a yield (and also colossal heads). After you research computers and environmentalism your tourism will be multiplied. Wonders also give a small amount of tourism each. national parks give tourism. Finally, rock bands can generate tourism bursts against selected civs.

Oh my gosh, you can swap control of a tile when a city expanded beyond the 3 tile range?! I never knew that! That will be so handy. I like to spread big and maximize my cities (I enjoy the empire building). And I'll usually have a problem where my capital will outstrip the others. Thank you so much for pointing that out!

I've almost never actually used the empire lens and didn't know it highlights the borders of each individual city. I always had to do it the hard way by cycling through each of my cities every so often to make sure they're not stealing tiles from other cities (especially when playing as Russia)

Had my first settler I trained on a diety game get murdered by a tornado literally as soon as he stepped out of the city that trained him. I feel your pain on that volcano

He never built the settler because of the turn reset you can see his faith was nearly zero before the cut and him saying he redid the turn it goes up to 700 faith

Valletta is military city state though. But that city allows you to buy walls with faith once you're the suzerain of.

A policy card becoming obsolete means that there is a policy card that is better, like how when sack and raid combine, both become obsolete because there is a better card. Or maybe it’s different in base game because I don’t have any dlcs

Building the orzagagxh (unlocked with sanitation) would be amazing because it would double your diplomatic favor from city states getting you a crazy amount of diplo favor to sell to the AI for MASSIVE gold income

You want more Tourism on Maori? Just PLANT TREES paired with Marae. With Flight Tech, all your trees, rainforests, marshes, and flood plains will all produce tourism cause they generate culture, I won cultural victory in deity by planting trees after conservation civic, I went Full-On Role Playing by not destroying any rainforests, woods, marshes and floodplains because we all know that the Maoris are the most eco-friendly civ of them all

Still think building industrial zones instead of commercial hubs is a mistake. Unimproved tiles, as Kupe, get bonus production. Commercial hubs give more great people in terms of tourism compared to the couple you get from industrial zones.

Couple things about Maori language... Wh is pronounced f R's are rolled Ng is merged together as one, can't really spell how it sounds very well. Marae pronounced mar-rye roll the r. Really hurts hearing some of your pronunciation. Hope this helps a little
