Thank You Rabbi Singer. You should start a ' Hebrew for Christians' boot camp. So many are simply scared to learn beyond what they've been taught, and it would be great if there were some way to ignite their confidence so they would at least try. There's simply not enough Jewish community and support where I live, but hanging in there. You're a major inspiration. Thanks again!🎉

Basically, that's what Rabbi Singer's and Rabbi Michael Skobac's videos are! They're outreach Rabbis, whose purpose is to bring back Jews to Judaism, who are currently trapped in Christianity, through ignorance of their own Hebrew scriptures. I've been learning from both of these extremely learned and beloved Rabbis, for the past 20+ years (not born Jewish - was a former, born-again, baptized, Evangelical Baptist Christian).

I think some of that fear comes from Christians being afraid to be ousted by other Christians for not believing anymore. Christians in general from my personal experience love to love each other but outsiders are treated almost as badly as scientologists treat outsiders. It's a scary time to denounce Christianity if you're in that deep.

Not a Christian nor a Jew but I'm interested in these topics, after having heard both sides and looking it up myself it's very obvious that most of the prophecies invoked by Christians aren't even prophecies to begin with or aren't about the Messiah, and their translations are very dubious to say the least. It's a religion based on dishonesty and corruption which are not very good foundations for anything.

It should also be understood that Matthew is deliberately writing his story to incorporate themes and quotes from the Jewish Bible so he can say his story fulfills prophecy. It's like shooting an arrow at a blank wall and painting the target around it. It's just additional irony that most of Matthew's citations are misquoted or taken out of context.

I don't know anything about "Talmud sages", but read any academic commentary on Isaiah and you'll see that they agree with Singer on this. The idea that Isaiah 7:14 is a prophecy about a virgin birth is confined to Christian apologetics.

The only reference to Isaiah 7:14 in the Talmud I can find after a quick look is Soferim 4:8, which says nothing about the woman being a virgin. Ibn Ezra concurs that Immanuel is the name of the prophet Isaiah's son. Metzudat David thinks the woman is the wife of King Ahaz and says nothing about her being a virgin. Malbim argues that the sign intended by the pregnancy is not a supernatural event. Minchat Shai says nothing about virginity and is mainly concerned about whether the name Emmanuel is one word or two. So even a very cursory look at the various rabbinical commentators shows no disagreement with Singer.
@EdwardSchwarz-n9j

@InquisitiveBible it says nothing about not being a virgin birth prophesy. Look, since the rabbis wanted to denounce Jesus, if there was no virgin birth prophesy then they would have pointed that out clearly. But since it was the idea in their time that Isaiah is a virgin birth prophesy, they instead claimed she faked it by adultery.

Even if isaiah 7:14 was a virgin birth it would only matter for Ahaz. Not in the future. I was a christian. I felt really stupid when i took my time and read the whole bible critically. Now, i am a Noahide. I believe that Israel is God's son and only son, the suffering servant, and the messiah is the next generation of Davidic kings forever. Thank you, Tovia. I love you very much. Now, i am trying to get my charismatic mother to leave the foolishness of church.

Indeed, Isaiah was conveying that the prophecy would be fulfilled extremely soon, in his generation. God wants to mend King Ahaz’s fear about impending war, he is surrounded by enemies, and it’s utterly superfluous to mention a virgin birth 700 years in the future, for Ahaz requires only a sign relevant to him.

For me the mistranslation of “ Is With Child and will bear a son” is worse than saying all young women are virgins. The exact same quote is actually translated properly in Gen 16:11 talking about Hagar and Ishmael: יא וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהּ֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה הִנָּ֥ךְ הָרָ֖ה וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ בֵּ֑ן וְקָרָ֤את שְׁמוֹ֙ יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־עָנְיֵֽךְ׃ 11 And the angel of the LORD said unto her: 'Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Ishmael, I provide the Hebrew and the correct translation, as they do in every other case except Isaiah 7:14. The rabbi is right on the main point. One can truly add that the child was already on the way - but can be seen as Ahaz first son / Hezekiah, who’s wife was already pregnant at the time. Then even Isaias newborn son / Maher-shamal-hash-baz (his second son), and this child is like a “double proof” of the exact same point... Namely, the mane point of Isa. 7:14 is that it’s not a prophesy about a 700 years later NT Jesus, but it’s talking about what’s going on at the time.

What a wonderful explanation of how many devious twists the christian missionaries have to employ, just to change the true meaning of a verse, which they cherry picked, and take completely out of the context of all the surrounding verses of Isaiah! That’s how desperate they are to make some verse, somewhere, anywhere, in our precious תנ״ך sound a little bit like it’s talking about jc. It’s really pathetic, except for the fact that most people are not well versed in reading the original Hebrew, and they buy such nonsense. Anyway, כל הכבוד , רבי This was beautifully explained!

As we like to say, "a son teaches his father how to make children." If the Jews have the original text, in Hebrew, which they have studied and lived for thousands of years, then it cannot be said that the Jews do not know what they are talking about. We, Christians, have come the furthest in the story of Mary that she was a virgin in the sense that Joseph was her first man, that she was chaste before marriage, that it was in the context of morality. That is the only thing that holds water. And the Rabbi is right, virgin and maiden do not mean the same. And translating Hebrew through Google Translate and Wikipedia is not a scientific work. We all know that we have a billion questions about our faith, and we do not have the original texts. And we have changes in the texts in our languages. We also know that we have so many versions of the same Church. One interesting thing, how many exorcisms have been performed in Judaism, how many in Christianity and other religions? A Jew is perhaps closer to God, there is no reason to be possessed? The fact is, Jews deal with God, not devils.

24:43 The name "Maher-shalal-hash-baz" is a symbolic name given to a son of the prophet Isaiah. It is derived from four Hebrew words: mahēr (quickly), shalal (spoil), ḥash (hurry), and baz (plunder). The name means "Speed-spoil-hasten-plunder" or "Swift is the booty, speedy is the prey" (Isaiah 8:1-4)134. It was used as a prophecy to signify the swift conquest of Damascus and Samaria by the Assyrians, indicating a shift in power and a warning of impending judgment.

There are only two people that were simply created and that was in Genesis. Thereafter God said go forth and repopulate the Earth. Why he said repopulate, probably because there were other types of neanderthal beings that were eliminated when earth became void and desolate, who knows. But going forward, God wanted people to get knocked up, there is no shame. But they say you are dirt because you were not miraculously conceived and hence you need Jesus, when in fact you are created in the image of God. To say otherwise is idolitory and open the door to worship gunigoogoo. God gave the Torah for one reason: if people try to deceive you, just double check what He said.

The king of Judea is in trouble, his kingdom is threatened to be destroyed. A prophet comes and say to him: "Don't worry! In 700 years a virgin will bear a child! And it will have nothing to do with you!" The king: "Wait, what?! How is that prophecy reassuring me in any way!?" Prophecies given directly to someone in the bible are always relevant to them or their family in the immediate future. Giving someone a sign to be interpreted 700 years later will mean nothing to the one given the prophecy.

You make a good argument against the Christian use of Isaiah 7, but how can the sign that the two kings will not prevail against Judah be that the two kings will be desolate? This is Imporant topic but I think we are missing key points. If almah means young woman of marriageable age than I think the concept of a virgin birth disappears there is no virgin birth if in the Hebrew there is a exclusive term that means virgin [betulah] Than the virgin birth concept came about in the Greek Septuagint where in Matthew 1:23 the word that is used is [parthenos] which can be used interchangeably as young woman of marriageable age or as virgin. This “virgin” birth is not there. Period it disappears just as we see in Genesis there is no creation out of nothing though people will think that Genesis is the book of creation but instead it was void and out of order. The concept of creation out of nothing disappears. We got to dig deep and start to peel back these perversions of text that got people believing these lies that were not actually meant to be translated as monotheistic theology has done it. In that reference of Isaiah Makes me think maybe ABIA is Jesus mom all along.

Well, ya know the sacrifice by Cain and Able??? Kind of a big deal. The blood sacrifice was excepted. The entire Israeli existence was primarily based on forgiveness of sin through blood sacrifice of an unblemished creature. Abraham was tested with the blood of his own Son. God stopped that. Was no big secret to the Israelites that it was to “remind” them that one day a “Savior” would come and set all things right. To fulfill Gods prophetic the garden- I shall make enmity between you and the woman…. He shall strike at your “head” (meaning death) and you shall strike at his heel ( serious wound but not death). The Messiah would survive that wound. He did. I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name bear witness bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. The head of what was but is not Gods people, and the Roman Empire were not part of the sheep. He was speaking to the authority in the Jewish state. The same who twisted the idea of the sabbath. Who constantly tried to use foolishness to entrap him. The Jews thought the sabbath was made for God. 😂😂😂 The bath is representing baptism. Hey. Shocker. 22:42 In the Bible, Jerusalem is often personified as a woman, symbolizing the city and its people. Seen in various forms, such as a widow, a princess, and the "Daughter of Zion" (Lamentations 1:1-7, Isaiah 1:8, 10:11, 37:22)134. This metaphor highlights Jerusalem. The use of feminine pronouns and imagery is common of biblical imagery in describing cities. The prophetess is the New Jerusalem. In Revelation she's called the bride of Christ.

The idea that the Third Temple is analogous to heaven is supported by interpretations that view the Temple as a gateway or interface between heaven and earth. Chabad thought, for example, describes the Temple as a "resonance chamber" or "amplifier" of divine presence, connecting heaven and earth. This concept aligns with biblical narratives where sacred spaces like the Temple serve as bridges between the divine and human realms.

The Inestimable Rabbi is a fighter, which is why I watch his vids, unless they're two hours long. But… here's an argument in favour of Jesus being the real Messiah after all. I should hasten to add that I'm a devoted atheist trusting science only, so the following is merely an intellectual exercise for me. Anyhow, here it is. The expected Jewish Messiah was supposed to destroy Israel's enemies, deliver its people from oppression, and restore them to the land of Israel. There were some little details about Bethlehem and the Davidic line, but it's all unimportant. The important bit is the destruction of the enemies and the restoration of Israel. And somehow the appearance of Jesus and his crucifixion delivered on both accounts, just not in the naïve literal way Jews expected. First, as Christianity pervaded the Empire it gradually destroyed it from within, wiped out old traditions and customs, led to demoralization and degeneration, and eventually the Empire became divided and its Western component fell to barbarians and the Justinian Plague. The East unravelled too losing nearly all its assets and power to the Muslim conquest by the 8th century, then more to the last Crusade that vandalized Constantinople, and in the end everything to the Ottomans by 1453. So, the first promise was delivered. Note that Islam itself was born as an argument against Christianity and its murky idea of the Holy Trinity. There'd be no Islam without Jesus. Now, how was the nation of Israel restored to its ancestral land? It happened because of raging Antisemitism that like a pandemic infected Europe and became especially bad in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries, because of colonialism practiced by Christians, because of technological progress achieved by Europe's and America's Christians, and the collective guilt experienced by Europe's Christians following the Shoah of WWII. The UN vote quickly followed and Israel became reconstituted after more than two millennia of non-existence. Would all this have happened without Jesus and Christianity? I dare say not. If you choose you may attribute these developments to the divine will working in its own mysterious way over millennia, and comprehensible in hindsight only.

The problem is, as Rabbi Singer often elucidates, that Rome did not convert to xtianity rather xtianity converted to Rome. Therefore, even if one insists that xtianity was a positive influence since it dissolved the corrupt Roman Empire the truth is, RATHER, that xtianity was itself corrupted [even more so than it had been by design] by Roman sway and such crudeness exported throughout history all the way through to today with manifestations on par with the brutality that one might be contending was displaced out.

In essence, Jesus is what christians would call an **"Anti Christ"**. *Christ* means *"messiah"* and jesus was *anti messiah*, he did the exact opposite of what the messianic prophecies intended: Instead of ingathering the Jews in Israel, they were expelled by the Romans. Instead of rebuilding the temple (he couldn't have rebuilt it because it was already standing) it was destroyed. Instead of worldwide peace, there were more wars. Instead of everyone speaking native Hebrew "Holy Tongue", he ended up giving people a New testament in a foreign Greek language. Instead of the nations following the Torah's commandments, Jesus said to not observe them.
@zdzislawmeglicki2262
@zdzislawmeglicki2262 Сағат бұрын
@garymichaels719 Perhaps it was meant to be so. Christianity had to diverge from Judaism and adjust to Roman culture in order to spread throughout the Roman Empire and later throughout the world. If, as I argue above, it was all preordained, God himself created Christianity and made it the way it is today, in which case Jesus was the grain, and therefore the Messiah. But, as is the case with God's work, nobody could see and comprehend it at the time, two millennia ago. It is today only, after all has been done, that we can see how it came about.

Hebrew scholars and Rabiis interpreted that verse in the septugent as a virgin. Mathew was a jew. How could he not understand. The teachers of the law in the talmudic made fun of Jesus's virgin birth, disputed his claims of being Messiah and insisted his death was well deserved. This rejection caused him anguish on his way to Jerusalem. Grieving over Jerusalem that she never discerned the hour of her visitation. Time has not changed. The Jews still miss it.

HAHAHA, could you stick anymore untruths in your comment!! 1- AS the good Rabbi Singer said, the Septuagint IS NOT the famous work of that name! 2- Please show us the quotes where Rabbis interpret the word "Almah" as virgin! I am a Rabbi, I have looked up EVERY verse with that word in it, and NONE of them scream VIRGIN! They ALWAYS imply YOUTH! 3- Whether or not the author of the book of Matthew was a Jew, he obviously had an agenda! Sad to say, but some Jews lie just as well as anyone else! 4- Please show us the Talmudic passage where this claim comes from! Also, although it is true that the man Yeshu is made fun of, it is NEVER said anywhere that he claimed to be messiah and that they disagreed! HE was always seen as a pathetic figure, mislead in various ways, to do wrong! In short, YOU are just spewing the same old lies that have always been put forth about the Jewish view of this issue!

No jews never translated it as virgin, the septuigant that was translated by 70 rabbis was only of the first 5 books of moses, didnt include any of the prophets such as Isaiah. The rest of the septuigants simply hijacked the name and were by anonymous authors, and were under the sole authority of whoever managed them, ripe for corruption. Highly doubtful that Matthew was a jew if he relied on the flawed greek translations. The Dead Sea Scrolls are in agreement with the masoretic, it says Alma not Virjin.

@@sarukeshel6429 Nice to hear. I'm also at peace. I have considered isaiah's words that all our righteousness is as filthy rags and put my faith in the Messiah of Israel, the Lord Jesus Christ He is the seed of the woman who has crashed the serpents head. He is also one like the son of man who has ascended to the heavens. He is Messiah the prince of Daniel 9 who came after 69 weeks after the decree to rebuild the temple. He is the king of israel who entered Jerusalem on a donkey.

Hi Rabbi, Please I have a question about Isaiah 7 : 14. First I am Christian. That verse says (according to Christian Bible): “ Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. “ And you say that the word “virgin” is not mentioned in the Tanakh. So this verse says (according to Jewish Bible): “ Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The woman will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. “ My question is: If you change the word virgin to woman there will be no sign given by the Lord Himself anymore according to the same verse because all women conceive and give birth to a child therefore it’s normal and it’s not a sign but the sign given by the Lord should be something abnormal that the virgin gave birth otherwise the verse should say that : “The woman will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. “ without talking about any sign. Thank you and God bless

Rashi explains that this is the sign, for she is a young girl, and she never prophesied, yet in this instance, Divine inspiration shall rest upon her. This is what is stated below (8:3): “And I was intimate with the prophetess."

The sign was that the woman would prophetically name the child Emmanuel, despite her never being a prophetess beforehand.

He didn't say the wore virgin isn't mentioned in tanach. He says it isn't mentioned in isaiah 7. It is even elsewhere in isaoah multiple times. The word is betulah. And also the woman giving birth isn't the sign. The sign is that by the time the child is old enough to eat... the situation with the 2 armies blockading outside will be no more.

🤔 Actually, your case is strong. You take the position with Septuagint translators, 200+ years before the birth of Jesus Christ, before Rabbi Tovia was born and many modern day Jewish scholars. Note, the 200+ Septuagint translators had no inherent belief in a “virgin birth.” Yet ... this panel of Hebrew scholars and Jewish rabbis in the 3rd century B.C., translated “almah” in Isaiah 7:14 to mean “virgin” - not “young woman.” ☝🏽 And later the gospel of Matthew chapter 1:20-23 took on this same meaning ... So, you truly have two historical records that supports the woman of Isaiah 7 is a virgin, and that is indeed a "sign."
